4.93 EVILNAT (Cobra 8.5)

PS3 4.93 Evilnat w/ Cobra v8.5 - (CEX/PEX/D-PEX) 4.93

@Evilnat
What do You think to add to xai_plugin >> CFW Tools possibility to inject "KeyVault" on last sector of HDD? In environments without OtherOS, some amount of sectors are not used at the end of disk. In PS3 HDD Decryption Helper, I doing it in that way in script named Tasker (lines 249 to 347).

And/or maybe CFW flavor with spoofed ATA/ENCDEC keys for those from GECR (because all GECR units using the same, so they HDD is always encrypted by the same keys)? This have downside that of course HDD needs reformat for installing it in the first place and tied user to specifically to this CFW flavor or else another format be needed. Just an idea.

Eiii Nathan, I have a little problem with my CFW Evilnat DEX, some weeks ago I changed my PS3's HDD and then I installed the PEX update to convert from CEX to DEX. Now, when I turn off and turn on my PS3 it takes me to the security mode to install the software again

Hello
If I am coming from 4.88, OK to do system update on USB,
which version should I use?
It has been a few years!

many thanks,

Everyone still using the PS3 a fair bit in our house,
Doom 30 years old prompted some playing

I am trying this for the first time with one of my old ps3s and I am at the step where I need these files, but the issue is every time I try to install the file through mega it asks for a decryption key, I don't know if I missed it or what but I have read through everything and still haven't found it and cant download the file.

Works fine for me. Maybe try another browser.

CEX - For regular players, contains most stuff you'd need
DEX - Used on DECH devkits or consoles that have been converted into devkits. Contains the necessary components to debug games using the ProDG debugger. Mostly used by homebrew developers but a couple of game mods also need it.
PEX - A CEX/DEX hybrid. Contains all features of both CEX and DEX and allows converting a retail unit into a devkit (and vice versa). This is the most feature complete version of the CFW and probably the most used one.
D-PEX - Identical to PEX but intended for installation on DECH devkits and converted units.

Yes. You can update directly to CFW 4.90 copying the PS3UPDAT.PUP to the folder /PS3/UPDATE in a pendrive formatted as FAT32 MBR.

Make sure that there isn't a PS3 disc in the drive before update.

You can install CFW 4.90 Evilnat CEX or PEX.

PEX edition has more features than CEX. It's like Rebug that let you switch to DEX mode. Most of the users only need the CEX edition.

It's recommended that you enable QA flags after upgrade. This let you downgrade to any supported version and let you access the QA debug menu and install multiple CFW from /dev_hdd0/updater/01

Thank you for the quick answer, I usually installed CEX, but this time I will check the PEX versions :) Thank you once again for the answer.
