4.93 EVILNAT (Cobra 8.5)

PS3 4.93 Evilnat w/ Cobra v8.5 - (CEX/PEX/D-PEX) 4.93

I'm not really wanting to update but I'm having trouble going on to the playstation store. I'm log into psn but everytime I try to the store I keep getting log out. So I try all the fixes and last option would be to update it 4.91.
Now that we have 4.91 CFW courtesy of Evilnat, there's absolutely no reason not to update. Just make sure you don't accidentally install OFW 4.91 or you'll get stuck with it for a little while.

There is no reason for not updating your old CFW to Nat's new one.

BTW you issue can be fixed by updating your np_eula_plugin.sprx.

I'm sorry if I jump in the topic.

Apparently there are some issues with the new 4.91 evilnat firmware, I don't know if it's due to user errors or normal bugs, but I'd wait to update, some hotfixes has been released already. It's just a matter of time and then we will have a stable\definitive version, I think.

The releases from March 9th and 10th had some bugs, but the release from March 12th looks very stable.
You can grab the latest builds from: https://mega.nz/folder/AM92DT7B#qcx4c6au0CMPNUipI9g0lg

But yeah, It is convenient to wait a few more days to have the definitive version. Hopefully it's this one.

Would be nice if next time there's a new CFW the first releases would be labeled release candidates (rc1, rc2 etc.) so we could tell them apart.

Yes, I agree with you. A couple of public beta pre-releases would help to get a final stable release in the future (if Evilnat is still active).

The approach of using closed beta testers *alone* is proven to be not very effective. Many only want to get their hands on the unreleased CFW to monetize it with youtube videos or sell them as 'exclusive' content. Others only test playing a couple of game on a very common scenario.

Just want to make sure I got this right. My PS3 is currently on 4.90 PEX, the one that lets you kernal swap between CEX and DEX. All I have to do is install the 4.91 PEX update and that's it, right? I don't have to make another eid_root_key backup to keep using kernal swap?

Correct. The ERK is hardware specific and never changes.

Thank you for your hard work, can i install OFW 4.81 dex firmware on Evilnat 4.91.Thank you.
Make sure you enable that option in the custom firmware tools cex2dex menu, because afaik it's not enabled by default and if you try to install DEX OFW without enabling it first it will brick your PS3.
Also note that DEX OFW will not play homebrew or backups out of the box. To get DEX OFW to play anything you need to resign the executables as debug versions. It also does not include backwards compatibility (neither PS1 nor PS2) nor movie playback support (DVD / Blu-Ray). It will play retail PS3 discs, but only originals, not BD-R (it will play BD-R containing debug versions though).

Hey I just got a PS3 earlier this week and installed the 4.90 [PEX] [CEX] [no-bd] cfw. Do I need to wait for the no-bd update for 4.91? I'm not 100% sure I need no-bd but when the person I bought the PS3 from tested it he said the disc drive wouldn't run the game he put in. I haven't been able to make a psn account because it said I need to do a system update even before I installed cfw

guys, but why does my ps3 on the XMB lag for one second and return to fluid one second again and so it always repeats, imagine that the (yes) is the lag, and the (no) is the fluidity of the PS3: yes no yes no yes no yes no.... basically infinite lag (it's always repetitive after one second), it happened to me even in older versions of cfw, it's very frustrating

Evilnat made changes recently in Cobra. Try enabling Cobra debug and use socat...

webMAN MOD polls some paths every few seconds why it's on XMB. Maybe the issue is related to these recent changes and socat could help identifying what is causing the lag.

how do I enable cobra debug and use socat?
By enabling these two things will there be more risk of being banned online?, I know there is a risk regardless, but this will increase it

ah, another thing, the webman mod folder icons continue to load endlessly, I don't know why but the images can't be seen at all
