4.93 EVILNAT (Cobra 8.5)

PS3 4.93 Evilnat w/ Cobra v8.5 - (CEX/PEX/D-PEX) 4.93

Can you elaborate more on this method please ? What do you mean updating CFW using Update debug instead ? Why set enable QA flag ? Aren't you upgrading ? I thought QA Flagging was required for downgrades, not upgrades.

ALSO, has anyone successfully upgraded from CEX Beta 9 to PEX Beta 12 without issues using the traditional PUP - System Update method ?

it's a way of quickly upgrading/downgrading firmware. enable qa flagging, then enable update debug in qa flagging settings menu. with this, you can store up to 20 updates on the internal hdd for quick installing. create a folder dev_hdd0/updater then, inside, create a 01 folder. you can store all the updates in that one folder (named whatever you want, you don't even need the PUP extension). you can also separate the updates, in case you want the same name for all of them, into folders from 01, 02, 03, etc. all the way up to 20 inside of updater. just ftp the updates to the internal hdd, then you'll never have to find a flash drive or do the flash drive method again.

Edit: you update by going to system update/update via system storage which should have a debug star next to it.

Using this method the system will restore bootsound and bootimage to evilnat default? 'cause i'm using a bunch of customs of Aldo Tools Ultimate Tool Box to boot and xmb alike...

@Charles_n_town , @DarthMotzkus Thank you both for your kind explanation.

Yes. ;]

It is safe to install any CFW in any version over any CFW, with exception of 3.55 GeoHot and 3.55 Waninkoko (all). Of course from the same family like CEX over CEX, DEX over DEX, etc. about which you don't need to worry as console normally not allows that.

@Berion

Thx, after i finish installing the games i will install beta 12 of pex.

Hello, here are the bugs I encountered on the CFW Evilnat version.

Note:
My PS3 is a CECH-2504A model.
Update of CFW Evilnat 4.90 PEX OC latest stable version to 4.91.2 BETA 12 PEX with the update debug function from the internal hard drive of the PS3.
Switching the console all to CEX before the update.
No other particular modification applied (like PS3 4k pro).

- Option "Information on the total use of the PS3":
French translation error of the line "Nombre de messages:" in the notification at the top right, should rather be "Nombre de démarrage:" ?

- TrophyUnlocker:
1st attempt: When activating TrophyUnlocker (OK according to the 2 notifications) then deactivating TrophyUnlocker, the PS3 freezes (with no game launched). When restarting the PS3, TrophyUnlocker is indicated as disabled when selecting the "disable TrophyUnlocker" option again.
2nd attempt: same problem after waiting 30 seconds before clicking on "disable TrophyUnlocker".
3rd attempt: same problem after switching the debug settings to DEX mode, formatting the system cache and rebuilding the database.
Note: Advanced QA flags were enabled during these 3 attempts.
4th attempt: same problem without any QA flags and debug settings enabled and the console entirely in CEX.

Also I have questions and suggestions on the way of developing the CFW:
Since the release of version 4.91 in February 2024, the different versions of the CFW have been very stormy and heterogeneous. We have had 12 BETAs with mainly PEX or D-PEX versions (and sometimes OC, noBD or noBT versions) with bugs each time.
While continuing to release BETA versions adding new features with an Agile development mode, why not release every 2-3 BETAs fully stable versions (PEX, D-PEX, OC, noBD, noBT, etc.) with just only a maximum of bug fixes from previous BETAs without adding features?

I see a lot of people asking for alternative versions OC, noBT, noBD, and this would allow us to avoid modifying the firmware again each time a BETA is released.

Is there a way to sync trophies in psn unlocked in offline mode? I unlock them but when return to online mode, and sync, the trophie is not unlocked...

I see. Thanks for the quick response.

wait as far as I can tell, IF they are unlocked legitimately there is no problem syncing even if you unlock them offline.
Maybe I'm missing something in your previous post, like pressing triangle and selecting the option *unlock in the menu, those wont sync

Yes, i'am talking about the TrophyUnlocker feature indeed. It's not possible to sync them unfortunately.

FYI Beta 13 has noBD / noBT / OC version.

Yes, except that PEX doesn't have noBT. Probably Evilnat forgot to upload it or the upload failed and he didn't notice it. However, it has noBT+noBD.

EDIT:
Evilnat fixed the PEX folder.
