4.93 EVILNAT (Cobra 8.5)

PS3 4.93 Evilnat w/ Cobra v8.5 - (CEX/PEX/D-PEX) 4.93

PEX is fine for us, but has some risky menu options if it's used by friends or their children.
CEX is less likely to be messed up by non-experts.

CEX CFW is the same kind of risk as PEX. The main reason to have CFW or HEN is to be able to run homebrew software, which can be dangerous if not used properly (i.e. using a file manager to delete important system files).

If you don't want people messing around with system configs, install HEN or OFW, or tell them not to and use parental lock for that matter. Everybody knows that jailbreaking a console can lead to a brick or system damage.

There was a suggestion some time ago to have the CFW tools require the parental controls password if enabled, but I guess it was too difficult to implement.

somebody wrote a plugin/app a while back now that masked all the custom stuff without a password.
i dont know if that still works or what it was called.

Hey Y'all! Could anyone tell the frequencies for the PEX OC? I'm looking for a 600/750 slight oc edition for a C04, 90nm RSX. :) thanks

Hope you're all good!

I've been debating updating my CFW (currently on 4.90 CEX) to the latest version of PEX (4.92), however, I thought I'd seek your input as to whether this would be ideal for my use case. PEX is normally the one that is recommended by the community and the most versitile, though I'm not sure how it would apply to somene who has been on CEX all along.

Are there any advantages I'd be missing out on by just updating to CEX rather than PEX?

It's my understanding that they share similairties, but that PEX is more developer-oriented if I'm not mistaken? Am I better of installing PEX as opposed to CEX in that sense? I've been very happy with 4.90 CEX and haven't had any issues, but since there have been some quality-of-life improvements on the CFW side, I want to update to the latest version in the hope that everything behaves the way I've grown used to.

I'd be very grateful for your input before I make the choice to update my CFW.

@Evilnat make a separated menu for Core and Memory, so we can make more combinations.

Maybe just done as a playsafe to give a slight boost to the stock clocks, the OC firmware could still have your further options added for higher or lower clocks, maybe some kind of FAT or Slim model detection added to block out the higher rates to stop people frying or bricking their FAT PS3s, I guess it depends on how many CFW builds you want to maintain or to just condense as many options into the least CFW as possible, which begs the question would stripping the HOME & Linux OS options leave space for other things? idk.

Long weekend, while waiting for the Xai update, I tried to patch 600/750 using wMM, localhost/poke.lv1?659258=3630302F37353020, but it didn't work. Is the offset wrong?

@aldostools, any ideas? Thanks before.
