PS3 66 CPU, 67 RSX, 49% fan

Are my temps good or bad? Currently playing Fallout 3, the temps fluctuate. Also is there a way I can graph it out instead to have a sort of history/log?

It's a CECH-2501B (for those who can't see my forum signature).
 
Temps are good, but because of 50% fan, which is not good. fan should be around 30 or less, IMO, stock fan curve, otherwise fan is too loud.

Custom fan speed? I think you need repaste.

Just using wMM's defaults right now. Also, might make another thread about it but for some reason I can't play PS2 games. They mount as "Unsupported Data" and then when trying to run them it gives the "this model doesn't support PlayStation 2 blah blah" message.

are you playing ps2 games through iso files or pkgs? pkg files should always work if iso dont. you can also convert the isos you already have to pkgs

Figured it out. Either Mamba doesn't work with PS2 stuff or I did something wrong with wMM. Either way a webMAN reinstall fixed it.


Btw, to add to the temp issue - this console has never been opened. Perhaps I should take a day to blow the dust out and repaste.

I would my 2501B at 30% runs 3-4° cooler. They are old systems. Good paste should have you all set.
 
Got any recommendations as far as paste? Also would liquid metal be most effective (and of course safe if used correctly)?

Edit: Went out and got some XTM70 until I can order some Kryonaut :) will update with results after I'm done

Sorry for the double post but I'm in a pickle. This screw is stripped. I've tried every bit that I have but nothing grips on. I've tried the rubber band trick too. The bit I started with is a perfect fit but the screw simply wouldn't budge. It's one of those two power supply screws. I was able to remove the other one but these screws are tough and annoying as shit due to never having been removed before. Can someone please provide some guidance as to how to proceed?

plenty of meat left, use PH2 or PH3 screwdriver head. Cant remember exactly, but more likely PH3.
 
Everything I have tried, with help, has made it worse. We tried different bits, we tried different drivers, different sizes, I tried using loctite to glue a bit on which stripped it twice as much. As mentioned before I tried the rubber band method. I've tried all of these bits (pic below) and nothing is working (another pic below). We also tried multiple pairs of needle-nose pliers, as well as a pair of wire cutters. It's like Sony soldered these in, how fucking ridiculous that so many either people have had this issue as well

actually i do use artic mx-4 thermal paste on my ps3 slim and it goes really good, i do have actually temps after 8 hour constant gamin like 66 cpu 64 gpu at 40% fan
 
Noxillio, i would try to heat up a flat screwdriver and place it on the edges of the screw, see if that works . If not, drill the mother****er .
 
actually the speed is high...........
To remove that screw you must use a drill with a very small and fine bit.
then replace the screw

The screw is tiny af, exactly what drill bit would I be using? We also thought of using a dremel but we don't have one small enough to do the job without damaging the chassis or power supply enclosure.

Can you elaborate? Are you suggesting I melt the screwdriver? Also if you're suggesting I try prying from underneath the head I don't think it'll work, those screws are not only flush with the surface underneath but they are "stuck" (so to speak) after 13 years of never being touched.
