PS2 Additional video modes for built-in GSM in OPL

Yes... I understood that...

We can not change the internal VMode in games... You said you understood that.

The "VModes" you are talking about and the resolution which stands there, is NOT the "output-resolution"/VMode... It is nooooot the VMode... The VModes are 480p and 576p!

Yes but the PS2 detects the different OPL resolutions and modes as 480p and 576p but in different sizes, that's why I said that it should be tested in games because maybe some will work

"different in size" BECAUSE "internal resolution" is smaller in these modes!

Internal!
The thing we can not change in-game.

Yes I know the game resolution can only be changed in game but that's why I said that it should be tested to force it, PS2 games don't even have a 720p mode or the VGA resolutions but they are in GSM, or maybe you can add the VGA resolutions in HDTV mode to see if it works

Aha... and how should the internal resolution be forced?
That is only possible with per-game-patches... PER game... There is no universal solution for this.

The internal resolution is not forced, you can force the resolutions with GSM like you already do

Read your own previous reply... You wrote GSM, which is the Output-resolution...
You even wrote "internal resolution"...

"that is what I meant"
Mhmmm... Sure.

And I told you that the EDTV- Mode you are referring to, is simply 480p (output-resolution)...
It is smaller (on your TV) because the internal resolution is smaller in OPL's GUI (640x448)...

...and you have been told, that we can not change the internal resolution in games, but only the output-resolution...

Can you still not comprehend the difference, or why it doesn't work?

Yes that's what I mean by saying GSM the output resolution, to try to force those 480p and 576p OPL EDTV resolutions on games

That is what the normal 480p GSM-Mode does...

OPL GUI EDTV 640x448p (internal resolution) has 480p as output-resolution and hence GSM 480p-mode (output-resolution) already IS the same...

...and everything else needs changing the internal resolution of games.

OPL has two 480p options 640x480 and 720Ă—480, games only have the 720Ă—480 option and that's why I'm asking if the first resolution can be forced for the game with GSM

Does it? Look again... It is 640x448!

Not possible.

Not trying to disprove your overall point as I agree with you but a small correction.. yes it does have 2 480p modes, one is 640x448 and the other (edtv) is 704x480.

Does this dude just want to stretch 4:3 to 16:9? I don't get what he's trying to do... your TV can do that

Yes... I wrote so before...

What he doesn't understand, is that the 640x448p is the internal resolution (which we can not "globally" change in games) and that both have the same output-resolution (480p).

Edit: His TV "zooms in" and he wants to get rid of that effect (a.k.a. "fault of his TV") by getting that Video-Mode in GSM...

What about the VGA resolutions? Can they they be added in GSM as HDTV modes? Some TVs have additional aspect ratio options and some don't

Do you have the equipment for the VESA VGA Modes?
Over component, they look pink/magenta...

Regarding other resolutions: Possible, if there are other (output)Video-Mode-standards available for component...

Fair enough, yea you can't just add additional pixels.. all you can do is stretch or magnify afaik..

VGA modes are already in GSM aren't they.

Magnify/Multiply horizontally and vertically... (a.k.a. "line-double")

He probably means the resolutions of the VESA-Modes over component with component-setting (so that it isn't pink).

Merge:
There is even "dx" and "dy" (AFAIR [display x/y]) to scale an image but as far as I heard from doctorxzy (back in the days), these are different per game as well or game-controlled and can not be hooked to or changed that easily.

If they can be changed, we could perfectly scale every game.

Yes I have the VGA cable that comes with the console but the image is worse
