PS4 Backporting Shenmue II

Recently I backported a few games to run on my PS4 that is on firmware 5.05. I used Auto Backport v1.11 and all of them work fine except for one particular game, Shenmue II (CUSA12303). Whenever I go to launch I just get the error CE-34878-0. It's odd because even Shenmue I (CUSA12224) works fine and that was dumped from the same disc.

I don't think my dump is bad or corrupted in any way, as ShadPS4 can boot the game fine from the original files. I feel the issue lies somewhere within the backporting process, but even the other tools I tried all produce the same result.

If you have any experience with this particular game (from any region; mine is Japanese), or think of anything I should try, let me know. I can provide more details if necessary.

I just wonder if I am missing anything here, or if there is an extra step that needs to be taken considering this game didn't come on its own disc as it was bundled with Shenmue I.

Many thanks in advance!

I'm not really an expert at backporting, but I know how it's done. Those auto backporting tools sometimes don't work, because they use generic patches. The backporters usually do this manually using an elf loader with a disassembly tool like ida pro. I don't know what's wrong on your end, but it likely requires a patch not included with that tool you're using. Backporting correctly isn't as simple as using the same patches for every game. I'd suggest trying to patch it manually, but it's not easy.
