Backup and rip game with updates already installed (Gran Turismo 6 in particular)

I would like to keep separate iso - in order to keep my game backup 100% intact.
What do you use / how do you create isos from scratch?

makeps3iso by Hermes, if we talking about PC. On PS3 every modern backup manager can create *.iso from disc or dir. If You want mostly intact disc image, copy game from disc as this way You will preserve original LBA which sometimes can be important (data read speed is different in different position on disc).

You can in addition create PS3_EXTRA disc without any game, so it would contains various game patches. If You want keep games in vanilla form, then this solution will be best fit for Your needs. But from practical point of view You should add patches to games, or keeps patches (or all-in-one patches) just in *.pkg somewhere on HDD.

Please can you elaborate? Link to makeps3iso by Hermes? Add a screenshot maybe?
(I've tried ps3isotools_v2.2 which uses makeps3iso - without success, I'm probably doing something wrong)

Drag & drop proper structure (folder in which inside is proper disc content) to makeps3iso exe and it will output disc image.

How do I do it?
At the moment I have two things:
  1. BLES01807 backup in ISO format (created from Irisman -> Create ISO) in dev_hdd0/PS3_ISO
  2. Bunch of (22) *.pkg files in dev_hdd0/package (ManaGunz -> Download Update)
I am sold on aldostoolses idea of:
Alternatively you can create a second ISO or phisical data disc with only the updates copied to the root of the disc.
Name the ISO something like "GT6 Update Disc", so you first install the updates then you mount the primary disc to play the game.
The advantage of this method is that don't need to rebuild the ISO of your game. Also you can install all the PKG files using the option "Install All Packages" without having to merge them. Just make sure that the were created in the disc in sequential order.

I would like to live game iso AS IS.
In addition to this I would like to create this update disc as aldostools describes with unaltered *.pkgs only. (no merging, no extracting, no single pkg)
I like the idea of "install all" he describes.

If this has been answered before, please point me in right direction. Maybe I'm missing something banal, what is obvious to you.

If You want make all in one package with all updates, then instead of PS3_EXTRA, use PKGDIR. Because it will be automatically installed during first game launch.

maybe I'm wrong, but if you used PKGDIR, you had to update the PARAM.SFO of the PS3_GAME with an option so the .pkg bubble showed up on the XMB. I can't remember the flag name (I think it was hex 0x82)

the param.sfo editor by @aldostools allows you to activate that "install pkg" flag.

@ZapRage If You want keep packages with patches also intact, then You cannot use PS3_EXTRA I think, because this is some kind of disc menu with i.e packages to choose by choosing picture, not unattended installation. There are XMB mods which allow user to install all found packages at once or preparing PKGDIR if my memory doesn't fault me (but I don't know if can be used without game like i.e PS3_EXTRA).

An alternative to PS3_EXTRA is to copy the package files to the root of the game disc.

It doesn't have a visual menu like PS3_EXTRA but it allows unattended installation of packages when the game is mounted, using the "Install All Packages" in Package Manager.

A mixed solution could be used too: copy the packages to the root of the disc and use PS3_EXTRA for the optional packages. It serves also as a visual notification about updates. Or put a dummy PKG with some message about how to install the packages.

Are installed based in his name, starting with DATA000.PKG

And is needed to create a PARAM.SFO under INSDIR with CATEGORY=AR, and APP_VER with the value of the bigger patch

[emoji23]I success to make iso bundle with Update using your method and work fine if I mount iso for first time system tell me need to install update if I hit X then install update pkg (DATA000.PKG ) and then play game , if not press X return to XMB it great method , Thanks [emoji106].
I want to ask Qustion please if I merged update PKGs in one Pkg using imn7 custom make PKG did I need to use PS3xploit Resigner tool to convert it from debug to retail pkg?

I think it should work if you do the same with a custom pkg with all the game updates merged
But before doing this with all games try to see if the merging is really a worthy size reduction, otherway the INSDIR supports to install many pkg's consecutivelly

I dont know much about that tool and the signature requirements for HEN sorry
But... for experiments you can do the tests with a PS3 game in JB format (folder and files) to replace the experimental pkg from INSDIR easilly
