Best way to install a CFW in 2024?

Hello everyone! I admit that I have never been so confused in understanding what are the correct steps to follow to install a CFW on my PS3, so please bear with me. I have a Fat CECHL04-8D model with original firmware 4.82. What I am interested in knowing is if there is what is the best way to install a complete CFW on my console, and eventually which CFW can be considered the best or the definitive one. I am interested in installing a CFW to keep the temperature under control and start my backup copies on the internal HDD without having to insert the disk. I am afraid of following a wrong guide and I do not know which CFW to choose, between things like Unofficial, Beta, Cex, Dex versions and so on. Thanks to anyone who will help guide me.

use bguerville toolbox to install cfw. and, install the latest evilnat cfw.
Thank you. So I can proceed directly from ofw 4.82 to perform the 2 steps you recommended? or is it advisable to update to a specific firmware like the newest official one or a hybrid firmware?

yes, afaik, it works on all 4.8x firmwares. I will admit that I've never had to use it, don't even own a hacked ps3/hen system anymore, but you should be good.

it is better to update to the lates ,what is now 4.91, then use bg toolbox to patch ps3 and then install cfw evilnat the latest one

Thank you guys! This seems easier than I expected, thanks for directing me. So the recommended CFW is the Evilnat version 4.91.2 beta 15 right? This seems to be the latest version, could it cause problems being a beta? Could I install a more tested version or is it advisable to install this version anyway? I also see that there are 2 versions available: pex / d-pex, is there any substantial difference between the 2?

You should be fine with the latest version, besides most of the newest versions are beta
And I personally use pex, you can find the differences here on the forum

Yes I read the differences in terms of technicalities that I don't understand. I also understood from some comments that if you install a CFW with developer functions you will have to modify the game backups to be able to run them on this type of CFW. Isn't this the case with PEX? I need a CFW for common mortals, that's it. A doubt that arises in me is can I directly install a CFW PEX on OFW?

I use pex and never needed to modify the games, I just put the redump ISOs on their folder with their respective key file and they work

I've deleted all the pointless, arguing posts. Respect each other, please.

@Charles_n_town, nobody was arguing with you, nor refuting your post. Just calm down, take it easy :).
thanks. @Luisile , I apologize. I'm very sorry about what happened. I was very drunk last night, and I just took it all wrong. I know that's no excuse, but I felt really bad about how I treated you once I sobered up. please forgive me, my friend.
