PS3 black screen after launching game

hey guys,

so i am running into an issue whenever i try to run a game i get a black screen. i have done rebuilding database and restoring file system but still no use. i am on cfw 4.88.2 and running games from XMB menu as they are in PKG formatted. i am not using multiman or webman.

i got no other issues at all except the black screen whenever lunching any game or any app. anything else besides that works flawlessly.


Edit: issue has been solved as i had to install CEX-NoBD version of the CFW

Sounds like your BD drive is going out. Try a No-BD CFW install and see if it clears up your issue. When they go out everything works but black screen on launching apps/games. No need to hack it again the No-BD will install over it. If that isn't your issue then you can easily switch back.

such a life saver. i cant thank you enough. pretty much the solution was faster than creating this thread. once again i appreciate your help
 
just curious, was this only happening with mame games? Same thing is happening to me but only with mame games that i run through retroarch but nes roms play fine on retroarch.

i do not think that this is your problem. if your bdvd drive is broken on an older ps3, you will have black screen when launching everything. all games, apps, homebrew, emulators will cause blackscreen.

So what should my first approach be? Reinstall retroArch?

I see FB Neo installed but have yet to try it out.

you can try a different core for mame games in retroarch. some cores in official retroarch do not work on ps3. the "community edition" hosted on psx-place does not include any non-working cores. you can try it also. just search for the release thread.

Should I also reinstall retroArch to the latest one? What's the most reliable version thus far?
 
I haven't encountered that case, I think you should check your device capacity, it can also be a game error if you have logged in on multiple devices and still no good results. Hope you get the problem resolved soon.
 
Guys I have same issue....i am using Ps3 Superslim 500 Gb Hen ......Games not starting... it's freez with black screen....please help me

does homebrew start fully? do disc and pkg games both blackscreen?

does your disc drive work at all? does it read discs or bluray movies?
 
Disk drive no problem....if hen enabled....Games will black screen....Also HardDisk Games Same freez
