PS3 BluRay Drive Issues After Installing CFW 4.88

Hello, I am having issues with my Blu-ray drive not reading ps3 games anymore after installing 4.88 EVILNAT CFW: My Blu-ray drive was working previously. I first installed hen and it was working fine, then I could not copy my games from my official disc to my internal hard drive through multiman. So I installed 4.88 EVILNAT CFW. After this, my Blu-ray disc is no longer working. It will read ps2 games, but not ps3 games. My ps3 is an 80 GB backwards compatible CECHE-01. Do I need to re-marry my drive or how can I solve this issue? Please help me resolve this issue if possible, I appreciate it.

which version of Evilnat have you installed?
in case install the latest one 4.88.2

Yes, I installed 4.88.2 the regular one, not the non-blu-ray drive one or the other one, just the regular one.

So what firmware were you running prior to EvilNat? What I suggest doing it make sure QA flag is set and install another CFW like Rebug to ensure it is the firmware and not the system. Mine BD drive went out after installing a firmware some time back. Switched back to the "working" firmware only for it to still not work.

I was on hen 4.88 firmware before I installed EvilNat. I am just wondering if it might be that the laser is dirty or something other than firmware related issue. I am stuck on 3.55 Rogero Downgrader RSOD at the moment after reading a guide on remarrying the drive. It will not let me go from that firmware. Keeps saying that my firmware is already too high to install this update. Once I figure out how to try and get past that point I will try what you suggested, thanks I appreciate all the suggestions and help.

Shit man that hasn't been used in 5+ years. Can you get to the XMB? I can help you fix that as well. We haven't had to use Rogero since 4.21 days. The downgrader spoofs your FW to show 9.98 only a 9.99 firmware spoof will allow an install outside of it. That being said if you can get to the XMB and enable QA flagging you can freely up and down grade any firmware. The scene changes so much that things get dated easily. That is why we suggest NEVER using video guides.

Yes, I can get to the xmb, how do I go about fixing the Rogero issue?

UPDATE: I have tried installing several cfw after enabling the QA toggle. All have copied through the xmb but then when I get to the next system update screen it gives me a data corrupt error (8002F157).

I have a little theory that sometimes CFWs messed up with the BD drive. I think remarrying the daughter board won't work this time 'cause you say you are able to run PS2 games, so the problem isn't there. Always use recovery mode for updating.

About that error, look at this: https://www.psx-place.com/threads/error-code-8002f157-information.17356/

P/S: Install rebug 4.86 after you fix your issue.

Ok good you got that. Now do the button combo by doing this.

Move the PS3 cursor/select "Network Setting"
Punch the following button combo with your PS3 controller: L2 + L1 + R1 + R2 + L3 + D-pad Down
Thats it, the "Edy Viewer", "Debug Settings", "Install Package" Menu will now appear. Scroll down to Debug Settings, and enable Update Debug.

Once this is done reboot into recovery ensuring it is setup exactly like this being case sensitive.

PS3/UPDATE/PS3UPDAT.PUP

Please keep in mind sometimes the updates fail making such a big jump. What I had to do was install Habib 4.46 CFW or any 4.21-4.65 CFW will work. Then install your 4.8X CFW and you are done. And remember never use any 3.XX firmware again hehe.

I am on rebug, and my ps3 games still are not showing up, but it looks like my drive is reading them. Does anyone have any other solutions?
