Hello everyone!
I recently purchased a CECHA01 model from OfferUp and unfortunately was lied to about the system not having issues. The system runs really hot and won't play any PS2 games. This situation motivated me to take apart my 1st system and clean it up. The plan is to clean the entire system inside and out, apply the new thermal paste and thermal pads, install the 19-blade fan with a manual fan controller and solder the USB cord to pull the SYSCON codes. So far I have disassembled the entire system, cleaned the motherboard, applied scratch remover on the entire case, and soldered the USB cord (my first time soldering too lol). I currently have 2.5mm thermal pads and found a reassembly guide that advised that I need to get smaller thermal pads. Could anyone please advise if using 2.5mm pads throughout the system is acceptable? Thank you for the help and sorry if I posted this in the wrong place or if there is an existing thread that covers this.
