CFW 4.89.3 Evilnat Cobra (8.4) (CEX/DEX/PEX)

PS3 CFW 4.89.3 Evilnat Cobra (8.4) (CEX/DEX/PEX) -

@Evilnat I'm running 4.89 is it possible my error "insert proper storage device" is coming from CFW or something else? I just updated to a new Kingston SSD and this error is random and can't be reproduced at will. If i restart the console 10 times it may happen 2 times then another restart after the message and all is back to normal, the drive is new and has been tested and no bad sectors found.

Some SSD doesnt work well on PS3, use a SSHD instead

Too late to take back, sshd would still have moving parts, I don't think it's a fatal error just annoying. Even without trim support this SSD has some type of garbage collection built in regardless of what OS is using it, also it fixed my loading times on games like TLOU and Uncharted 3 which were nearly unplayable on normal drive. Guess I'll just deal with the error for now, just wanted to make sure it wasn't anything to do with the CFW.

@Evilnat sorry for a last minute feature request, but would it be possible to add "Show currently active ROS bank" notification to xai_plugin? The flag is located in Syscon EEPROM at 0x48C24, 0xFF for bank 0, anything else (!= 0xFF) for bank 1. This location is also protected by default, but I'm sure that had to be patched already for the other EEPROM dump function.

This feature would make the life of CoreOS patch tool testers much easier. :encouragement:

0x48C24 Bank #0 OS-Flag (ros0 if 0xFF else ros1, for NOR consoles only) (os_bank_indicator)

Hello @Evilnat , thank u for the very great job u are making on the ps3 scene.

I was wonder if u could add some ps3 hacking theme to remember great old devs of the past, i mean cfw rebug dynamic theme, cfw ferrox theme and jfw theme.

i am wishing a lot of more things, like the patch for playing psn c00 content without activation (like the one used on sgk cfw), add the patches from miralatijera cfw to have original psone coldboot animation when launching psone games (that cfw has also a lot of other interesting patches), modifyng the ps3 copyright on ps3 setting with a little explaination of the ps3 hacking scene (from geohot to u, passing trought kmeaw and cobra team, i could help by writing something that should be reviewed of course as english is not my native language).

it would also be great to activate the debug browser by default (look at ps3 dev wiki, there is a special combo to unlock coverflow mode and other things).

Also the full native compatibility with ds4 would be amazing (there is a plugin but it doesnt work well, also it would be a dream to have also audio output via the ds4 controller).

also, as u have a lot of visibility on the scene, could u ask pubicly on Twitter if someone could port duckstation to ps3 ?
Thanks to dynarec it could work very well, because duckstation can fix the geometry of ps1 hardware and render games at higher resolution and higher frame rate (along with savestates and more). About that it would be amazing to include duckstation.self in the dev flash and run mounted games with it instead of the official ps1 emu.self.
Also a dreamcast emulator would be a dream, like the one we have on psvita. We should give @Rinnegatamante a free ps3 as he is a legend in the psvita homebrew scene.

thank u anyway, u have done an amazing job.

Cheers

Miralatijela have some interresting patches that i've never seen before
- PSX games will have the complete animation intro just like the PS1.
- USB Flags, nosearch, nosleep and etc
- RIF license bypass, this means that now the console will not care if the content has been purchased or not, so this means that a console without RIF's nor ACT.DAT should boot all content without any problem. (ps2 classics for example ) BUUUUT will give a blackscreen, to fix that we will have to patch the "ps2netemu" so it uses a static klicensee. (This one is against psx-place rules, so don't expect this feature)
- Dcex, basically reload the system in DEX mode WITHOUT changing the EID or doing the paraphernalia to switch the console to DEX, what you do need to have activated are the QA Flags, nothing else… all in a safe mode and we have our own kind of Debugger to be able to debug games and mount games via Network without any need of backup managers

Do you have the update that enable this features? i only found dead links, i found the 4.50 version but none of those patches are applied, i also found the 4.40 base but those features are introduced in a .rar update with the following

- game_ext_plugin.sprx
- libda-vsh.sprx
- ps1_rom.bin <<<< This one that i want
- sysorig.self
- vs2.self

I once talked to @Rinnegatamante about this and he said he would need a ps3, but the community doesn't even support our active devs, imagine bringing a new one to the scene?

- ps1_rom.bin <<<< This one that i want
this file was several times asked for, and unfortunately I cannot upload it on here, but I have made a patch to patch original rom.bin from ps1emu. just drag original rom on batch
original rom md5=81bbe60ba7a3d1cea1d48c14cbcc647b
resulting rom md5=30e65720c6e6fc40bca85149a27e655a

I would disagree with "support" and also "the community" . Both are term's that are a little broad and in my view tell a different story of what the community and scene is, Developer's of the community are some of the best when it comes to working together with idea's projects or information.

I would imagine if Rinn was serious about doing something in the PS3 Scene and needed a PS3 that he would get support if that what he was seeking, .

What has been weak, the support without asking, that is what needs to change.
These devs do not need to layout the expenses and beg, but sometimes people do not understand it takes that
for certain projects.. Also some do not realize the dire needs and once they do are willing to support.

I think your giving an incorrect view of the community/scene...

sth about MLT CFW, I have applied all of the drm vsh patches, but just like Joonie has found back then, only the C00 demo patch is useful

I'm not new at all, what happens is that I haven't touched the scene for a long time but nothing else, and I have forgotten many things..., and I wanted to know how I went from Rebug D-Rex in 4.86 to CFW Elvinat in Cex 4.89, that's what I want...

you can update directly no problem

@aldostools Does webMAN MOD always patches with or without noBD? I mean, when the PS3 is booting webMAN MOD checks webman_config->noBD and enable or disable patching it? Because I'm on my 4.89.3 noBD and when I try to install a package or trying to access my USB device the first minute the PS3 is booted it can't detect it, and if I shutdown the PS3 beeps three times with error. If I enable webMAN MOD noBD patch manually it works as always

Patching a noBD CFW with BD patches in LV1 at startup can cause issues as I can see, I will test it further
Sorry for the late reply. I was on a trip and didn't have Internet available.

webMAN MOD can apply the noBD patches automatically on startup if the option is selected in /setup.ps3

It also can apply the patches on demand using the web command /nobd.ps3

AFAIK There was no Rebug D-REX 4.86, the last one was D-REX 4.84. There was Rebug Lite 4.86, which was CEX only. You can upgrade from it directly to Evilnat 4.89 simply by installing it as a regular firmware update. Make sure you don't accidentally install OFW or HFW since you won't be able to go back to CFW at this time.
If you have Rebug REX or D-REX 4.84 - both can be in either CEX or DEX mode. You will need to be in CEX mode before you can install Evilnat 4.89. If you're currently in DEX mode, you can switch to CEX using Rebug Toolbox. Please note that you will lose DEX mode if you update to Evilnat 4.89 at this point. If you need DEX mode you should probably wait for Evilnat 4.89.3 (currently in beta).

Hi, a couple of years ago I bought PS3 fat with Evilnat 4.7x release (don't exactly remember which one). Everything was working fine but when I wanted to install something through No Pay Station I realised I had to activate my console. To do that I had to upgrade firmware as I couldn't log in to PSN otherwise. I downloaded Evilnat 4.89 release from here and installed it from a USB stick. From then on I started having problems with no signal - I turn on the console, it looks like everything is working fine and responsive but there is no signal going to TV, so I cannot see anything on the screen. On a few occasions it started working after some time (2 mins?) by itself, sometimes I just restart the console a few times before it finally 'kicks in' and I get the picture. What can I do to remedy this? Downgrade? Install again? Install a different version? The only other thing I did after upgrading to 4.89 was using the PSN Patch tool to integrate .rap files.

Maybe you've installed the first version of Evilnat 4.89? It had some bugs and issues, make sure you're on 4.89.2.
Worst case you can backup your activation data and downgrade back to the older version.

I´ve used this a long time ago, however this bios slowdown the emulation a lot...and i ve replaced only ps1_rom.bin.
