PS3 CFW Backwards Compatibility Issues

My recently refurbished CECH A00 PS3 is having trouble playing some PS2 games from disc. I have CFW (Evilnat 4.91.2 CEX) installed, and all games start without issue. Some games run perfectly (The Simpsons: Hit & Run). However, other games (James Bond: Nightfire) allow me to access the in-game menus and reach the loading screen, but won't get any further than this.

It seems to be when it attempts to render in-game graphics, it remains stuck on the load screen and soft locks. I am still able to access the XMB menu. I have tried changing the upscaling settings, display resolutions, and video outputs (HDMI & Scart), the issue remains consistent.

Any suggestions as to what may be causing this behavior would be appreciated. I am keen to be able to run games directly from disc if at all possible.

Bear in mind that not all PS2 games are compatible with the PS3 BC/Semi-BC models.

There is a list in PS Dev Wiki, but it's for the Semi-BC models only.

Did you try downgrading to CFW REBUG 4.84?.

Should be 100% compatible according to the wiki -
List of PlayStation 2 games compatible with PlayStation 3 - EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki
Maybe the disc is scratched?

Not really. On the list are games that are also incompatible with full bc consoles. I counted atleast 8 games that can not run and othest that have major problem. and the list is not even complete..
Yeah, afaik, every game doesn't work even on bc systems. I think the PS2 was the same way with PS1.

Thanks, I will try downgrading and see if this resolves the issue.
