PS3 CFW install question?

My PS3 can read PS3 games but not play them .Will CFW be able to copy the games to the hardrive when I install CFW 4.92. I have an older PS3 (CECHEO1 4 USB ports) that I have reset and installed new HD 1TB.
It reads/plays PS2 games but only reads/identifies PS3 games. Screen goes black when it tries to play PS3 games.
 
You can generate an ISO from the PS3 disc using a few different homebrew applications, including IRISMAN, multiMAN and ManaGunZ. After that you will no longer need the disc and can play the ISO directly from the hard drive, or an external USB one.

That is what I was hoping. Thank you! Now I am just waiting for toolset to be updated and I will install CFW 4.92.
 
No problem. Get back to us in this thread if you have any issues ripping your PS3 games once you get CFW installed, or if you want any help/advice on homebrew on how to do so including playing your ripped games in ISO format.
 
you say you have cech-e model with 4 usb ports. i think only a and b models have 4. check the model number again, please.

is the new drive a HDD or SSD? SSD may give problems (some after many months of normal use).

This is a PS3 CECHE01 original Fat that was sold at Blockbuster Video ( Which is great lol..) it has 4 USB Ports. I bought this back in 2002 or 2003. I am the only owner of this unit. It originally played PS2 & PS3 with no problem. I haven't turned it on and also shut off automatic downloads probably 10 years ago. The only reason I turned it back on was to Jailbreak. I changed the Hardrive to 1TB HDD recently and deleted all my save data . I wanted to get it back to zero saved data.

The outside of my PS3 has slots for CF,SD/miniSd and PRG

The other crazy thing about my predicament is I actually replaced the laser with a new laser , because before this it would not read any discs. When I replaced the new laser it reads /plays PS2 but only reads/does not play PS3 games . I am not worried because I believe the CFW Mod will help. I really don't have that many Discs to copy. Most of my games on PS3 were digital and I really don't care about the old save data. I wanted a clean Fat PS3 to Jailbreak.
 
Last time i bought 4 KES-400. 2 of them worked properly.
1 didn't read blue-ray. The other one didn't read cd.
Like throwing a dice.
 
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have been waiting patiently for PS3 toolset to be updated and today was the magic day!
However when I go to the toolset through PS# it does not

This is incredibly frustrating on my end . I am trying to install for the first time on my PS3 the new 4.92 evilnat install . I have followed all online tutorials and downloaded successfully to the USB and yes I have formatted to Fat 32 MBR, non bootable .Also did the the new PS3toolset 4.92 beforehand. However when I go back to try and download from PS3 USB it tells me that: I have no images or titles on my USB. Please help.....

What exactly you have downloaded and where did you put it?.

Are you sure your USB drive is compatible and recognized by the PS3?.

Are you sure you actually applied the patch?

You should have made a flash backup first, then verified with ps3pychecker. Once verified, you need to click patch and https, then once done, click flash again and apply.

I usually also do another patched backup after patch is complete to verify dump is good before rebooting.
 
The crazy thing is if I go to :USB Disk" and hit triangle it displays Evilnat 4.92 and my Ps3 folder . It will not install . USB is reading USB but I can't install. Has anyone seen this.

Today I tried to install CFW4.92 by way of safe mode. It reads Xploit agreement and goes through what seems to be a normal download and at the end of download goes to a black screen and nothing happens. I had to unplugged to get it to turn back on . No update ,CFW available and the USB is reading but will not transfer files. I can see the files in the USB but if I try to copy or install it reads no applicable data. This PS3 has new hardrive and is updated to 4.92 firmware but will not take CFW. What to do.
