PS3 Cfw jailbreak

Hi Everyone,

I've talk to a few well educated folks on here who I much appreciate there knowledgeable incite on cfw jailbreak ps3 rebug 4.82 on ps3 slim model 2501A.
I would like to start of by saying I'm jumping the gun a bit and understand there reason for this, I want learn all I can beings I'm not seasoned in this industry, because I forsure know and fully understand the consequences of mistake.
In a few days I will be receiving my brand new ps3 slim Cech 2501A factory sealed specified to be on firmware version 3.5. Just yesterday evening on Facebook flea market I came across a jailbroken ps3 it happens to be on firmware 4.84 which isn't a big deal just in case I mess up the brand new one you lol or- I can practice on this one the jailbreak process mybe anyways before I get to off subject my question is by chance Could I use ps3 transfer utility and transfer/Copy this ps3 on to the brand new one and boom there twins lol I shouldn't be cracking joke because if I make 250 dollar brick I have to live with that but all and all will that work?
Yesterday evening a Gentleman on this forum that truly respect informed me that I could possibly just install the CFW to the fresh un boxed in packaged PS3 and boom done can't be that easy nothing is that isn't which leaves me to believe I misunderstood the Gentleman.
I'm an OTR Truck Driver to which I don't have access to internet service UNLESS I'm home so I wasnt to thrilled about BGTOOLSET's CFW Jailbreak even though its easier and the jailbreak I'm looking for is DEX beings the game mods Iused to like to run required DEX and I'm still a happy member of Solid Gold Store. Or else I would have just stayed on firmware 3.5 ... Thank You!

I don't understand the question. I don't see how it is related to all written before it.
You can use DTU on every firmware, yet as I remember, both consoles must be on the same fw version.

If firmware on this PS3 is in version 3.55 or lower You can use pendrive for install CFW, just like in any other OFW case. If it is higher, then You must update to 4.88 max and use bgtoolset to patch fw, which makes allowed to install CFW.

Or else I would have just stayed on firmware 3.5 ... Thank You!

There i no reason to stay on 3.55. It is ancient and half of game library will not work on it. Focus on CFW like Rebug 4.82.1 D-Rex (if You want DEX) or Rebug 4.86.1 Rex, or Evilnat 4.88.2 (4.89 CFWs have serious bugs introduced by Sony so until scene will not solve it, avoid it).

My apologies if I in the wrong forum thread, I was just trying to follow the rules and start a new with a new question. Anyways my question I had several

First question: is it required to do a flash and write dump with installing fresh new CFW on stock PS3
Or can I just install rebug D-rex4.82 cfw and it be jailbroken

Second question beings I have secondary cfw on Rebug Firmware D- rex 4.84 could I just copy all data over to new stock ps3 using multiman or via ftp. Or ps3 data transfer utility after I update with Sonys official 4.84 update and stock ps3 be jailbroken just like that I guess

Please excuse me I'm new at this I'm trying to explain this as easily as I can make sense out of it thanks for understanding

That's not the case, I just didn't understand Your question because You describing something on half post and I didn't see how it was related to the question. ;]

Ad1. As I said:

Firmware dump is made in the process anyway if You must go by bgtoolset road. If not (fw 3.55 + CFW upd package on pendrive), it is still wise to make a copy of it (been on CFW of course), along at least with with ERK and IDPS copy.

You cannot install DEX fw on CEX console before You convert CEX to DEX. Firmware will be rejected and will not install. So first You must install CEX CFW, then convert it to DEX and after that install DEX CFW. The same with opposite way. You will be unable to install CEX fw on DEX console until You convert it again.

Ad2. You can. But don't expect this OFW become console with CFW. Generally speaking both migration tools (DTU and BDU) are piece of shit, and You should avoid it. More details how to copy data by hand You can find here: https://www.psx-place.com/threads/ultimate-userdata-backup-guide.29037/
