CFW update fail help?

Hello,
I have been using PS3 and CFW for years and years so I am quite aware about QA and stuff like that. For some strange reason I was not able to update to latest Evilnat, I was still receiving a message that data is corrupted. I tried different USB, tried both USB slots, nothing happened. So I used 3.55 downgrader like x times before and until this time everything worked like a charm. Anyways, I was desperate so I tried to switch HDDs and it worked on 1st attempt. I was able to install 3.55 and then latest Evilnat. So everything works now. THank you for helo. Anways, I believe that 3.55 downgrader is just adjusted 3.55 to show 9.99 to be able to downgrade but after installation it still shows 3.55
Thanks

No problem, there was no malice in my reply. You know what the forum is like, you are much more likely to reply to someone without any knowledge of such things than someone with.

All I can tell you is that despite using many consoles and messing with them a great deal more than the average joe, I haven't had to use a 999 downgrader or to downgrade to 3.55 for at least 5 or 6 years, simply because there is usually no reason to do it.
If ever you find yourself repeatedly in desperate situations leading you to resort to such cumbersome tricks, you might want to review your setups (hardware included and the HDD in particular) because that's not normal, unless you are experimenting shit.

Hello GUys, sorry to open this older topic, but I am quite in the same situation. I had Rebug 4.85 I think and I wanted latest 4.88 Evilnat. I still had some error so I decided to get back to 3.55 via Rebug Downgrader. THen I wanted to install 4.88 Evilnat and I got error 8002F156 and I found this topic. So I removed HDD, reformatted it in PC and then I wanted to install back 3.55 Rebug downgrader, then I tried 3.55 ofw, then I tried 4.88 ofw and still the same. It asks me to press select and start to install FW 3.55 or higher, then a check passes to 100% and nothing happens, again the same, press PS button and reinstall FW. Does anybody have an idea what to do?
Thank you in advance
One thing I've noticed was evilnat cannot be installed over 3.55 even though it says it does in my experience. I wouldn't have downgraded as there was no need. The 999 thing I've never used but I would assume QA flagging should allow you to downgrade to any Rebug. You'll need to grab I'd recommend 4.84.2 Rebug and then install the evilnat CFW. Make sure the QA flag is enabled and it should work from what I've done.
