PS3 Compatibility List - PS2 on PS3

Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 2 (SLES-50196) Fixed
Code:
3D 00 00 00 57 44 00 00 0A 00 00 00 01 00 00 00
80 1F 2A 00 01 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 0F 00 00 00
A0 F1 11 00 AC F2 11 00 00 00 00 00

This config fully fixes the SPS on the specific camera positioning. Earlier config's range had some VU0 calculation opcodes of camera causing such glitch posted by @Vika23.

How long should I play to encounter that missing puzzle this config is meant to fix?

@Agrippa Oh, that's good news! I didn't think that would happen at all. The puzzle is actually quite a bit in...and even getting to it from a save point is a struggle. That's why the config itself is a range rather than just the problematic address, I got lazy myself. Let's just say it's fixed until further notice. :)

I removed the dust/smoke effect. I really don't know what is causing the freeze though...it exists on Rikimaru's intro at the waterfall as well, so it could be something related between all of these levels.

What I could do is literally disable everything I can into one config, see if the issue is fixed, and limit it down to see what is causing the problem. I will just have to put a config together for that.
Can disable all visual effects in the game for see how work the game w/ that CONFIG?

Need for Speed: Carbon - Collector's Edition (SLUS-21494)

00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
Full frame rate fix (similar to Underground 2). Game runs perfectly now.

Well, there's a few more things I could try. First is to do what you just asked, which there is a lot(!) of functions related to rendering stuff. I did already try skipping the first 25 or so functions with no success. There are about 15 left to try, so it potentially could work.

Otherwise, I can dump the memory at the time of freeze. This helped me solve a few games like Disney Golf, but freeze in this game seems very weird since rendering processes still are doing something...just veryyy slowlyyy. I will try both options whenever I have some time.

I hate to be the guy that says play a different console version of the game, but the Japan exclusive PSP port, Tenchu San Portable, works great on PS3 and it has the additions of the Xbox version. Of course the graphics aren't the same, but the core game is 1:1.

Can config work with non collector edition version? with SLUS-21493?

Thank you so much !!! Can you fix the framerate of NFS Undercover and Prostreet too ?

Not sure! My guess is probably, but you are welcome to test it and confirm.

Yes, those should be an easy fix.

Those are both PS3 games that look better as PS3 games, why do you want to play the inferior PS2 versions?
Well, this is true, but it never hurts to just have it available if someone only has their PS2 copy on hand. Some games I prefer their PS2 version on PS3, like Kingdom Hearts, due to things like having the original soundtrack, having the vanilla experience without the glitches of HD version, and stuff like that. It's really a matter of preference. For NFS, the PS3 versions are probably better, but they probably take up more space as well.

And the fix was mainly for PS2 on PS4. ;)

That's true about space but for me it's always the opposite because PS2 has to go on internal I only have 750 gb and PS3 can go on external I have 1.5 TB, so even though the games are bigger I have more space for them and I'm always out of room on my internal. But I know that's not the case for most. Every PS2 game that can be fixed is cool regadless.

Edit: well I guess the same could be said for Carbon.
Like @mrjaredbeta said above, PS3 versions takes alot of space unfortunately, i also have my PS2 saves converted from my old childhood memory card in my PS3 so i would like to use them. NFS Undercover PS2 version is also much better 10x than the ps3 version in my opinion as it contains the same assets from the older NFS's.

What problems game have before config?

Found more issues while trying to play the Growlanser games, so I'll be requesting your help one more time if possible:

- Growlanser II/Growlanser Generations Disc 1 (SLUS_207.58)

- (Importance: low): a vertical white (or black) line affects some of the character sprites while talking (similar to the already fixed black lines in Growlanser V). Screenshot attached.

Note: The game already has a custom config available (zip file attached). Without enabling it, the game will freeze and become permanently unresponsive at the start of any random battle. I don't know if the config fixes any other issue. Would it be possible to merge a black/white lines fix with this freeze fix in a single custom file?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks, cool version of psp Tenchu San and work perfectly w/ PSP Remaster of ps3

Probably no one has interest in this but I discovered (or maybe it was already known) how to convert collections into a single game that boots directly without the main menu where you can select other games https://www.psx-place.com/threads/trying-to-play-an-elf-in-pcsx2-black-screen.33232/

It might work with say Mega Man Collection and X Collection where you can select individual games from multiman/sman/webman whatever you load games from, as well as other collections as long as they have multi ELFs.

The bad thing about the above is AFAIK you still have to use the same amount of space as the full ISO I think, so it doesn't save you space and you only get 1 game instead of the collection. Maybe there are certain files you can get rid of before converting it back to ISO though I really don't know.

I seriously doubt this but I wonder if you could swap out a game's ELF that doesn't work and make it work this way.

Heavy frame drops.

What a pathetic cash grab the PS2 version is. They did not even bother to use a different font than a generic Arial one. The whole presentation is ugly, just like the graphics as a whole.
