PS3 Compatibility List - PS2 on PS3

7 Blades (SLES-50109) (SLPM-65008)
Code:
3D 00 00 00 57 44 00 00 21 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
00 00 00 00
Fixes freeze on intro FMV. Tested around 6 times without config: 1 freeze on Konami logo (part of FMV), and 5 freezes on actual intro. With config, no freezes after 6 or so tests. SLPM-65008 is untested.

I'm still unsure about what 0x21 actually does internally, but it seems to help a lot with the efficiency of the EE emulation. A lot of games do not accept it and will panic/shutdown the PS3 (Shadow Hearts 3 for example). I did some tests with Tenchu - Wrath of Heaven a couple weeks back using the debug display here and CPU usage is all-around lower when 0x21 is set at 0.

From the results, it seems that the emulated EE on netemu/gxemu could be running at around ~80% speed a normal PS2 would be running at when comparing to tests with Tenchu and PCSX2's EE cycle rate slider at 75%. This leads me to believe the 0x21 command at 0 is something related to increasing the EE cycle rate, hence fixing most FMV and some performance problems.

Another indicator of this assumption is testing a game like Tekken 4, which has FMV performance issues on netemu without 0x21 command, on PCSX2 with EE cycle rate at 75% and asynchronous audio. The FMVs will desync in a very similar way to how it happens on netemu.

Fix FMV freezes by force skipping them (press start to manually skip intro FMV), fix *all* slowdown/screen jitter in car selection screen, and force brightness/contrast to zero at all times to fix *most* slowdown ingame (forces it in a dirty way). The menus look quite nice without FMVs so it is not a huge disadvantage, but I want to eventually make FMV playback actually work without freezing...but that is for another day. :)

sorry for dumb question, but does it freeze arcade selection freeze?

I am looking for the Valkyrie Profile 2 PAL-UK saves you guys made during the play-through with the current available config. It would be great if they would come from the first save point after the boss in the Dipan Castle. However, every save are welcomed. I prefer the memory card image data (.VM2) from the "dev_hdd0/savedata/vmc/", instead of the PSV export format.

@Agrippa done, adjusted the values from your agressive lowered config and kept the joker stuff, i tried the missions and got best results ever, Tony on foot is solid 30 fps always, driving is 30 fps too, 25 fps on the babylon club street and maybe 28 fps on some other zones (like in PS2), this is now the best config.

Is that the fix for Scarface PAL version? If not, could somebody please port it to the Pal Version? :) great work and thanks for the fix. :)

ntsc, only ntsc have config, pal works without problem i guess.
Mmmh other users managed to play the ntsc version from start to finish with the config, maybe your iso file is corrupted or has been modified?
Also, i don't think the pal version works without any config file. Maybe it does in 50hz mode, i'm not sure, but if you play the pal version in 60hz you should get the same freezes as the ntsc version. I made a pal pkg with the ntsc config awhile ago and i wanted to test it, but after playing the hd remaster with the improved controls, i've never actually got around to replay the og ps2 version
