PS3 Converting PCSX2 Memory Cards to PS3 and Vice versa.

Hello Everyone I'm ShadowSinclaira and here is a way to Convert PCSX2 saves to PS3 for your Ps2 Classics.
Before we begin your gonna need a few things and somethings to note.
THIS NOT FOR PHYSICAL PS2 MEMORY CARDS!!! THIS IS FOR MEMORY CARDS THAT THE PCSX2 (A playstation 2 emulator) CREATES.
THIS Will work with all ps3 models EVEN ONES WITH OUT CFW OR HAN OR HFW.
All PCSX2 Memory cards are in a .ps2 format.
Ps2 Classics or the Virtual Memory Card That the Ps3 Makes are all In a .VME Format
In this guide I'll be using Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4(installed using Han)( I ripped it then converted it to a pkg and installed on my ps3)( thank yooou ps3xploit team)

Okay lets begin.................................................AND PLEASE LOOK WHERE THE HIGHLIGHT IS IN THE PHOTOS!!!!! YOU MUST ALREADY HAVE THE GAME INSTALLED AND ALREADY HAVE BOOTED THE THE GAME AND SAVED. YOU CAN NOT DROP THE SAVE ON THE PS3 WITH OUT A SAVE BEING THERE IN THE FIRST PLACE!!!!!!

Here the things You'll need before we begin
1. MYMC (in this guide i'll be using MYMC 2.6g2) which you can download here https://sourceforge.net/projects/mymc-opl/
2. You'll need FRK Save Conversion Kit switch you can get here https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1KehXhJIbNp6-8i70vEs36XmCb7MCo6E6&export=download (give it time....I know it takes a while)
3. Have a fat32 formatted USB flash drive
OK
STEP 1. when you download mymc and FRK and extract it into its very own folder.

Step 2. go into mymc_2.6.g2.dist folder and open mymc-gui.exe
upload_2019-4-14_17-47-28.png

step 3. Find Your PCSX2 Memory Cards when it opens. (It will open just like this)
upload_2019-4-14_17-49-11.png

IF You don't know where they are, just open the emulator
upload_2019-4-14_17-51-46.png

Config then go to Memory cards
upload_2019-4-14_17-55-18.png

Should look like this now

go to Open in explorer and it should give you this
upload_2019-4-14_17-58-42.png

Click the bar at the top copy it.
upload_2019-4-14_18-2-57.png

Go back to mymc and click the address bar and paste then enter

Step 4: Choose the Memory Card with the Save on it

Now you can See all the save games in the memory card for the Pcsx2
upload_2019-4-14_18-10-13.png
upload_2019-4-14_18-10-31.png

Step 5: Grab the save then export by clicking the save 1 once and then clicking the memory card at the top...the arrow going to the right.
upload_2019-4-14_18-13-3.png

Step 6: Give it a name and save...It'll be in the same place where your memory cards are.. NOTE...At this point we've extracted the save you want and its now a .PSU File.
upload_2019-4-14_18-21-55.png
upload_2019-4-14_18-22-27.png

Step 7: Open the FRK Folder

Step 8: Extract fpwr-sck1.3.zip and out into the folder
upload_2019-4-14_18-29-8.png
upload_2019-4-14_18-30-29.png

Step 9: Go back to where the memory cards or store or where the .PSU is and clip that to the side.
upload_2019-4-14_18-33-6.png

Step 10: The save you exported from mymc rename it to save.psu
upload_2019-4-14_18-34-55.png
upload_2019-4-14_18-35-26.png

Step 11: drag it into the fpwr-sck folder
upload_2019-4-14_18-38-32.png
upload_2019-4-14_18-38-59.png

Step 12: Open the fpwr-sck.bat and press 1 and ent
upload_2019-4-14_18-40-26.png

Now you should see your .PSU file Now as a .VME file.
Okay now on your ps3....you need to have a save already on the system. You can do this by just booting the game and it'll create one. go back to the XMB......Saved Data Utility(PS2)....then the game...put your USB in the ps3 and copy the save onto the USB by pressing triangle then copy then the USB and done. Which brings us to step STEP 13. Copy the .VME file from the output folder of the fpwr-sck. go to the USB
upload_2019-4-14_19-21-19.png
go in PS2SD
upload_2019-4-14_19-25-24.png

And there it is the game save from the ps3
upload_2019-4-14_19-27-6.png

Open the folder and please...for the future if you have a lot of save on here please use the Large icons by pressing view then Large icons at the top.
Step 14: Paste the .VME file in the folder and yes copy and replace and unhook the USB and go back to the ps3
upload_2019-4-14_19-31-10.png

Final Step: Plug in the USB Back into the PS3 go Saved Data Utility (PS2)>…..Your USB>...Then the Save game....> then press triangle....> Copy... AND YOUR DONE!!!!! YAAA DID IT SONNY BOY.

I'd like to add that if you are trying to transfer an SMT nocturne save from pcsx2 to ps3, you have to replace both SCEVMC1 and SCEVMC0 on the usb with the .vme file from the output folder. Or else the game will just say that there is no save data.

*.ps2 format is just 1:1 raw copy of PS2 Memory Card with ECC. Exactly the same as *.VM2. And the second sentence is wrong. *.VME is used only by PlayStation 2 titles sold in the shop which one of the emulators understand. The others use unencrypted/unsigned *.VM2.

There is another application for the same task which doesn't work on *.psu but *.ps2/*.VM2 (but I forgot the name).

mymc is outdated legacy stuff. Better is Dual MyMC.

FYI ;)

Thanks for the clarification. *(I guess i learned something new)* Oh yeah, do you have a download link for Dual MyMC?

I Wish known that before.(that way I wouldn't have to restart the game over on ps3) Because i was a bit confused when putting the save back into the ps3 it always said no saves. Thanks to you I know why. I guess this applies to all ps2 games that saves only to memory card 1. XD

I did this with my Persona 3 SAVE Extracted as PSU in ULE into Persona 3 Fes VME years ago, so don't say it doesn't work for real Memcard saves, you can even use raw saves following a few more steps either copying them back and export as PSU or convert them in the pc and will work
I can attach my save in a future comment if you want proof

If by term "raw saves" You have in mind folder save and it's contents, then this is not always true. No, when games using time stamps in save file as some kind of security/validation layer. You should always avoid working with PS2 "raw saves".

so i got the vme file in the usb but my ps3 is not reading it can anyone help?

im stuck on step 14...
when i copy the ps3 save file to the usb and put it into my pc..
It wont let me put in inside the save file...its not a folder..

so when i put the ps3 save file in the folder it does not come up as a folder and so i cant put the vme in there what do i do?

ok i see this is for ps2 classics
will this work for ps2 disc games?

if you're using PS2 disc games (e.g. you have a CFW ps3), then you don't need to use the .VME format at all.

In that case, what you need to do is:
get your PS2 save-game in ".PSU" format. Then convert the .psu file to the original ps3 .PSV format with this tool:
https://github.com/bucanero/psv-save-converter

once you have a .PSV file, just copy the file to a USB drive in this folder:
\PS3\EXPORT\PSV\

then just use the XMB in your PS3 to copy the ps2 save-game to your PS2 virtual memory card.

I don't mean to necro but, after i converted to .ps2 (SMT Raidou) from .vme how do i manage to make it recognizable for pcxs2

Could someone tell me if this will work for Persona 3 Fes. I couldn't get it to work and I was told by someome that it is impossible.

@EliteK You can convert any memory card image to any memory card image, the same with saves inside and saves containers. Someone who told You this is obviously wrong. If done correctly, it works with all games.

Than I'm not sure what I was doing. The virtual memory card showed all my saved filesfor the game individually instead of a single one, so I'm confused if I'm supposed to convert all of them to vme.

Also, what's the difference between the two vme files in the last image?

This tutorial have a lot of unnecessary steps and is outdated anyway.

If You want convert PS2 virtual memory card with ECC (like PCSX2 VMCs are) to encrypted one, just copy it to "/dev_hdd0/savedata/vmc/" under name "<anything>.VM2". After that, use Apollo to encrypt it and copy to the "dev_hdd0/home/<user number>/ps2emu2_savedata/<GameID>/SCEVMC0.VME".

If You want put someone else save, You need it in PSV container. So i.e if You have it in PSU, then use @bucanero save converter and import it to VMC from USB (option in XMB). After that, encrypt it like above.

PS: Difference between SCEVMC0 and SCEVMC1 is virtual slot (PS2 had two Memory Card slots).

Sorry, I'm not sure what most of this means. I'm new to emulating.

Do I need a jailbroken ps3 for this to work? What's ECC and where do I get this Apollo encryption tool?

If Your console is not hacked, then You must follow tutorial from first post.

What You have anyway, and what You want to do? With details.
