PS3 Copyright Save Transfer

Hi.

I need help. I wanted to know if there is a way to move my Lost Planet Extreme Conditions save to another PS3 (Same Account)? This game is copyright protected so it WONT transfer to PS+ Cloud and CANT be transferred through Data Transfer Utility (Ethernet Cable) method.

Is CFW the only way? I have 0 experience with it.

Not "copyright protected" but "copy prohibited". ;) It is parram set in PARAM.SFO file which tells XMB to prevent save from exporting/importing on/from USB. But of course nothing else give a shit about that, so you can freely backup/restore save via any file manager or FTP client.

You can upload save to cloud if you bought PlayStation Plus service. What you stating is wrong.

Saves are signed for specific NP Account ID (for accounts tied to SEN) or PSID + User Number (for accounts not yet tied to SEN). Easiest for you will be if you export/import save by Apollo.

CFW or HEN.

Thanks for both your responses. So i guess i have no choice but to go this route. I see that apollo is a homebrew app which means i will need download and setup HEN to use it?

Now to point out, i have 0 experience with any of this stuff. So when i setup HEN on my current PS3. Im guessing i have to be signed out of my PSN ID and be offline to evade a ban right?

Is there an instruction list or a guide i use to download/setup HEN?

If You want been super safe (paranoiac mode ^^), then do:
  1. blacklist Sony servers on router side
  2. make disk image sector by sector (do not do that on Windows or not agree for so called disk initializing)
  3. install CFW
  4. read EID Root Key & IDPS
  5. install OFW
  6. restore disk image
  7. reinstall OFW
ERK grants you access to PS3 HDD on PC, IDPS grants you ownership control of your data (licenses, vmc, saves and trophies). For eternity on that specific motherboard. So You will be always been able to make data copy from HDD, even when PS3 will die, or on OFW. ERK cannot be read on HEN. But CFW cannot be installed on every PS3 model (you didn't mention which one you have: CECH>>?).

Step 1 is for making you sure that CellOS will not call to home (sign out probably is not enough). ;]
Step 2/6 is for not bothering clearing homebrew usage traces by hand.
Step 7 is needed for overwrite ROS1 bank.

Ok. WoW. That sounds like alot of work.

Sorry. I forgot to mention. My PS3 is a CECH 3001A. Are the chances of ban high for HEN users? Because all i simply want is to export my copy prohibited save to my main PS3 in the future. The current PS3 im playing on is my temporary unit as im out of town for a while.

If the chances of ban are extremely low then im not too worried at all. What do you suggest?

@Ridzzzz You cannot install CFW on your model. So HEN is best what you can use. My roadmap then is not for you, sorry. ^^

In your case, the only safe method is buying PlayStation+ and sending saves to cloud. Less safe is installing HEN, copying saves, removing homebrew traces, reinstalling OFW. Lesser safe: the same but without removing traces and eventually keeps HEN.

@Evilnat allowing copy protected save files would be a nice feature for your CFW :)
I'm not sure if this wasn't trying in the past and involves SS patches, which breaks trophy system. Such issue free solution would be fantastic addition.

I see. No worries. Also, i thought copy prohibited games cant be transferred to PS+ Cloud?

I go online with HEN all the time for like 2 or 3 years now and never had any troubles! Just don't mess with fake trophies or cheats and you'll be totally fine, I doubt Sony cares by now. The easiest way to recover these saves would be to install HEN on your old ps3, back up the xregistry.sys file and the savedata itself (see Berion's guide here: PS3 - Ultimate userdata backup guide | PSX-Place) and then install HEN on the new PS3 to restore these files. DM me if you need any help with those, I did the same thing to recover my saves from my broken PS3 :)

They can! It's the only way to back up these files without resorting to jailbreaks.

Thanks alot for this. I think ill try HEN for it. Good to know PS Cloud allows the copy prohibited saves, thats my secondary option then.

No worries! Also, you don't actually need to be connected to the PSN in order to do all this, so there's no risk at all if you stay offline! Just turn off automatic login if you want to be extra sure.

Yup. Will do. Thanks for the tip.

If you have CFW there is an option in xai_plugin to convert save games to another/same account and disables copy protection. I will research about copy protection patch

the copy protection is an attribute on PARAM.SFO, but the XMB actually reads the data from the internal database (does not read the actual PARAM.SFO file) . So patching the the PARAM.SFO can help when the save data is on a USB drive, but the XMB won't allow copying because the flag is stored in the database.

But anyways at CFW-level I guess that check could be skipped , either from database or file.

AFAIR, file manager is/was in WIP state via toolset. That's actually fantastic idea of feature and I hope one day it will be published.
