Not sure if anyone here has experience with this game, but since it mods similar to RDR / IV / V (rpf) I figure maybe I could get some insight. So I'm trying to mod the soundtrack / music files in this game. Personally thought the OST for this one was crap and it affected my ability to ever enjoy the game as much as I could've. The music files are located in USRDIR > carchive_music.rpf
I used a program I found called "RPF Tool" or something (got it from a YT video for RDR mods.) but it also has the option to mod MC:LA. Anyhow, I extracted 20 random tracks from the rpf with the tool (they were just "files" but if I changed the extension to .mp3 they'd play in VLC.) and replaced those 20 random tracks with some stuff from Midnight Club 2 and 3. All of the tracks had a weird name I.E. 0x2f00daa so I renamed my mp3's to the name of the track I was replacing and using Notepad++ I saved my mp3's as "all files" to try replicating the original tracks I extracted which were just "files" lol. It seemed to work, made sure all of my custom tracks I used to replace were the same size or smaller than the original.
Got the game back on my USB and launched it with multiman. Game launched and everything, so I went to the options menu to check the music. Tested every song to see if anything I replaced would play in game. I guess I hit play on one of the random tracks I replaced and my ps3 froze up on me. HDD light was staying lit too. However it powered off and rebooted without problem. I'm guessing something is wrong with the tracks I replaced since when trying to play one of them it will freeze the game. Maybe my mp3's aren't up to par with the same technical specs of the original ones I'm replacing? Maybe I'm doing this completely wrong lmao? If anyone has experience replacing music or modding R* games I'd appreciate the insight if possible. B)
