PS3 DECH-2500A Testkit

Does anyone know if the links on the psdevwiki for DEX firmware are good? I used to use midnight archive but their site seems to be down.

Recovery mode didn't even see it, could it be because i'm using an sd card with an adapter? Or because it NEEDS to be in the right hand port.
There is no requirement for using the right port for PUPS except maybe when using a FSM jig. It could be your SD reader, not sure.

TBH I didnt even know you can freely downgrade DECH consoles so it's new to me. Try from the XMB with System Update Debug enabled in debug settings, if you have that option. Not sure if official DEX does actually, that might be a CEX only Feature.

I assume it can be, since both the update page and recovery mode say it wants 3.40 or higher. And yeah, unfortunately i think that is a CEX feature as i can't find it in the debug setttings.

Yeah I've noticed when converted to DEX it always asks for minimum version alright, but always assumed it still needed to be QA flagged.

@Joonie might know the story with DECHs?

Yeah, the system seems to be quite stubborn when attempting to install 3.55 onto it. Even the Target Managers update option fails to do it.

EDIT: Odd, before, i tried TM's File Explorer with no luck. It would constantly refresh and show nothing. Now it suddenly is showing me?

EDIT 2: Seems the file explorer works, its able to download files off the drive. SUCCESS. Although it did fail on one file in the DRMDIR.

Figured i'd make a new post too just in case.

UPDATE: TM's File Explorer was not working at first with the system, it would show me blank with it constantly refreshing. Now it suddenly works and shows me ONLY the "game" and "game_debug" folders that are in the hard drive. With that said, i am "downloading" the files i can off the drive right now.

EDIT: Target Manager saves the day again, when i got the system earlier today, the guy had left it in debug mode. Without the help of TM, i woulda been stuck. So it's twice its saved me today. :-p

Seems my anti-virus is flagging some of the files as viruses and quarantining them, hopefully they're false positives.

Debug Update should be under Debug Settings. This makes possible to install fw from "dev_hdd0/updater/00/*.pup" (but don't know how looks official way to put there update package; maybe by target manager ;]).

On CEX2DEX I was installing fw from USB (remember, FAT32 on MBR, nothing else is supported).

It's only part of the CEX QA debug settings unfortunately.

I think the official way to get PUPs into dev_hdd0/updater is just to tick for box for saving the PUP when installing from USB, not sure if there is another way via TM though.

I don't think it will.

Not much good to you right now, But this works if you have DREX, switch to CEX QA debug settings, enable the System Update Debug options, then switch back to the DEX debug settings and it stays enabled.

From what i've gathered and dumped, there are various builds of NFS: Hot Pursuit. Ranging from various file names to dates, 2011 to 2012.

Including it's own unique launcher to boot the various builds.

EDIT: Totalling at a whopping 36.3GB

why do you guys think it is called system update debug? this is an official debug feature and it can be enabled on cex through qa and no need to do so for dev consoles. you can also make an additional folder on usb PS3/UPDATE/SEARCH and put renamed pups inside

about 3.55 dex, I would use the pup with md5 047671664d9241c04d44278944e153d9. it is the official one with added spkg support, to downgrade to 3.60- fw

Maybe, since i have access to the drive now via TM's file manager, i could possibly create the "updater" folder and subdirectories and see if that works.
You can create the "updater" folder in /dev_hdd0 & copy your pup files there using TM.
And you might wanna consider adding the TM program files folder & whatever folder you use on your PC for ps3 mounting, to the AV scanning exception list if it appears to mess with TM operations. Getting viruses from the PS3 is quite unlikely anyway, the risk is low.
