PS3 DeViL303.com is gone due lack of donations :(

LOL.
Certainly not.
If ever the community ultimately doesn't care about keeping the Toolset project online, have it grow & branch out, that is fine by me HOWEVER it should expect absolutely nothing else from me from then on, my work would probably remain private.
Anyway we have not yet reached that deadline, we shall see when we do, for now it's DeViL303's online project that needs help & that is what this thread should focus on.
The HEN users will be in serious problem, as for CFW one can easily using the 999 downgrader downgrade to 3.55 then upgrade to 4.84 and then use the old method of manually hosting the patch files on LAN and using the HTML scripts.
But for HEN they cant downgrade. So new users looking to exploit there consoles will suffer !!!!!!

Apart from this post, not many people will know that about the PS3 Toolset hosting situation. However, a large number of people use and would like to continue using it in the future, myself included. I am happy to donate to the PS3 Toolset situation, and i am sure, given the knowledge about the 6 months dead-line, so would many others here too. Maybe for transparency you could create a thread soon, outlining:- (1) How long PS3 Toolset (hosting) has left. (2) How much (the total amount) is needed in donations, and how many years of hosting that will buy. (3) Where / how we can donate.

In all honesty they should not have to say much more then this,

I do not think the overall solution is suggesting we have devs beg more, instead user's need to REALIZE there is cost and it can be expensive for a single person but insanely cheap if more were willing to buy a coffee, leave a tip, or even give a bit of change. Seems like tough task, but i do not think we need to put more the to devs to do something, we need to put more awareness to individual these are not companies or corporation but hobbyist doing things for you everyone, so everyone should be able to handle the expenses as a group and not have to resort to asking and asking, keep in mind some of these devs have to do more then once or twice.

No its a problem in the community.
Might not be a time for workarounds (which make no sense) but maybe idea's and suggestions to help keep these services up.

These devs are not asking for anything, they are asking for the communities own benefit to help themselves.

I disagree with that statement...

if they let the free service go to the same destiny of devil303.com, they will not suffer because they don't care. It's that simple: it's unfair to expect that the dev that created the service also pay for a community that don't help back. It's a non-reciprocal relation.

We're talking that about 30 or 40 persons donating $10 could save a free service for a community of tens of thousands console owners.

Remember that the devs don't receive any profit other than recognition.

So what's wrong with having a permanent pinned post explaining where and when funds / donations are needed to keep projects going? Showing which project needs support and its desired donation goals. I already wrote this on Page-1 of this thread, see here:- https://www.psx-place.com/threads/devil303-com-is-down.36784/#post-327090

Its not a bad idea, by no means and not saying we should not do it but what i am saying is devs should not have to resort to this.
The releases already often have these messages already in them why donations are important.

I totally understand but unfortunately most people dont. I have seen several people, especially with tutorials on YT that they dont even give recognition to the dev behind say a homebrew application or a CFW or anything else made by dev(s). They just give a download link that too is not of the dev's git page or say a forum like this one, but of their gdrive/ mega. This hurts the devs a lot as they have put so much of their time and energy in return of nothing [money] but recognition in the community.
Also many a times homebrew is misused, the best example of this is reactPSN, it was made as a tool to help people with CFW consoles activate their owned game licenses if their console is banned from PSN, but soon it became a piracy tool, same goes for multiMAN. This is mostly happening in Asian regions [being a local i know]. Here, if you go to a seller for PS3, he also gives you games pre-installed on it [piracy happening in open].
They literary just ask you that which games you want and then install them on the console.

^^^ that's one of the things I truly dislike from many youtubers: they present my ps3/ps4 homebrews but they don't even share a link to the GitHub repository, my website or twitter account... they just re-upload the .pkg to some filesharing service like mega, and some times even put the link behind one of those redirects with a crap-load of ads.

But in any case, users should care about funding the projects they care about, or at some point the devs might abandon it.

Its been a growing problem, myself and many developer's have recognized and dislike it.

For every good youtube video there is 20 bad ones to go along with it.

i agree, he did more than is to be expected of a dev. his web resource was very handy indeed, i also agree we should help fundraise the funds to reinstate that web pa
ge. ill see what i can do about pitching in.

also STL has a very good point, people ripping off others work without proper credits is crappy, i personally dont even use YT, ever since the 'Hot towel trick' series of videos had caused me to lose interest in sifting through all the garbage for a useful video. its absolute crap, and is a direct reflection of what society in general is coming to, absolute crap.

Sadly its a common problem on YouTube (some do respect the community), but it's not just YouTube Videos there are other things and platforms for one example you look at the PS4 Homebrew Store, Its a useful app and website but they do not have any links back to developer's/release notes unlike brewology and VitaDB. sometimes this is not intention and just bad judgement or even simple oversights,

Apologies for the necro, but what is the deadline and how much time is left? What is the name of the host provider? (not the user, the company)

For @DeViL303 ...the website is already down so the deadline has past, however we can donate and when enough funds has been reached DeViL303 will be able to pay for more web hosting & renew domain name ...see below the links and info.

@DeViL303 paid for a 3 years plan in 2019. It's expired now.

webMAN MOD online covers, Ultimate Toolbox resources and other services for the PS3 community hosted on that server are unavailable.

I think we need to start a fund-raising campaign to help DeVil303 with the server costs and recover these services.

DISCLAIMER: I don't have any relation with these links or codes. They belong to DeViL303

For PS3 Toolset by @bguerville ...from his message on Page 1 of this post, an estimation would be 5 months now left (and counting) until the website goes offline, see his message here:

...the way things are going, in 6 months it will be the PS3 Toolset's turn.

The PayPal for donations can be found on: ** www.** ** www.ps3xploit.net > D... = http://ps3toolset.com)/bgtoolset/index.php ...see "Logs" > "Help & Donations"

There we can find a few ways to help with donations, one of them being PayPal:
- team@** ** www.ps3xploit.net > Domain no Longer owned by team** (NEW URL = http://ps3toolset.com) > Domain no Longer owned by team** (NEW URL = http://ps3toolset.com

I just donated to @DeViL303 and to @bguerville ...i'm only saying this to inspire others :-p:D

And maybe this song will also help inspire ;) ...right @bguerville

Thanks on behalf of Toolset users.

Jeez, must have been about 14 or 15 when this tune came out. I would be lying if I said I was much of a fan even back then, LOL
But still, it brings about good memories of somewhat naive and hopeful days, long gone.

Same lol, my parents moved us to France from London when i was 14, now i can never forget this song lol. Also "Indochine - L'aventurier", such songs i can never forget, oh and the Club Dorothée DragonBall Z song :-p:D

Thanks to everyone who donated, and thanks to @aldostools for starting this thread. I have just renewed the hosting for 3 months.. cost was $82 and it only lasts until 9th June.. wish it could be longer but this is all I can afford right now.

upload_2022-4-21_22-50-19.png

I'll be honest, I used to have spare money for stuff like this, but my circumstances have changed a lot over the last few years. I'm not complaining as it was all great fun and the PS3 scene kept me sane through some tough times but I just don't think its sustainable any more, I must have put in about 1000euro of my own money for various hosting over the last few years.. probably had about 8 donations at this stage, maybe 120euro total.

Anyway, I'm not sure if it will get renewed again after this so if you wanted anything from the server, grab it while you can.
