Dex to cex without homebrew apps

What does its current FW version say it is? Am sure even though these are the same as otrher PS3's hardware wise they have there own FW irrc.

As with the usual CEX install, PS3/UPDATE/PS3UPDAT.PUP

I tried 4.81 DECR and DECH OFW from darksoftware.xyz, the result:
No applicable update data was found.
Connect storage media that contains update data of version 4.25 or later, and press the START and SELECT buttons at the same time.

You need this firmware

• DEX HFW 4.84.1

Then you can just install HEN and have fun. I can't seem to find the link ATM but maybe @Joonie can help with this.

So you should be able to install 4.82 DEX and gain access to 4.82 HEN which is the same as 4.84 and since you have a debugger you can't access the DEX PSN. But you can get the file here. Update to 4.82 if you can and get back to us. We will get you all setup.

I want the "testkit firmware" right? those only go up to 4.81 on the website
the only one that has 4.82 is retail firmware.

The 4.82 - 4.84 DEX OFW is not available on the net. They have not been shared publicly...

So your saying that the only way to make Hen work is if i could update to 4.82? If i could get my hands on the DEX HFW would it work even though my ps3 is at 4.81?

Yes it will work, you just have to find it. I know it out there, as I have seen it mentioned before. Am sure the links were posted on discord somewhere irrc....

Joonie can't share those DEX firmwares. His source trusted him with it and giving them outside of that is breaking the trust he was given sharing those. Only licensed development studios have access to those updates.
