DKWDRV

PS2 DKWDRV Unified PS1DRV for all PS2 models 1.7.6h

Does this mean PSX games from USB may actually be possible now?

I wish I still had one with it. But the real IOP will always be better than an emulated version using a PPC.

About me not having one, or the emulated PPC emulated version?.

(On a semi-related note, I think I had less issues with POPStarter on a DECKARD console, as in less streaming audio crackling on games like MegaMan Legends.)

Probably: not sure about been better than real IOP. ;)

The anonymous persona started something big! :)

...but it will probably take months or even years to use its full potential.

DKWDRV's developer has worked hard and using emulation in DECKARD, managed to make a proof-of-concept loading of PS1 games from USB mass storage devices, emulating the CD subsystem.
(In PS1 mode (only) on DECKARD models (PPC-IOP).)

Not all CD access commands are emulated yet, which causes some games to crash and others to not have music. However the overall compatibility with the few games tested, appears to be generally very good.
Emulating the CD audio direct feed to SPU may be difficult or unreliable, so it is yet not known if music will be made working in the future.

Because not many games have been tested yet, it is unknown if other bugs may appear, which to reduce compatibility.

Release date is undecided yet (may be after months, and hopefully together with other bug-fixes).

PS: Sorry for the my bad gameplay and low video quality. :D

Sorry for the "full quotes", but... "There you go!"

The version seen in the video is not available, it must have been a test that has not yet been released, I tried today to do the same as in the video and did not achieve anything, it only launches a psx game that is on a physical CD, a pity I wanted to play by USB with this new application friends.

Ciao! :joyous:
First of all I congratulate the developer, this is really a very interesting project. :encouragement:

I did a quick test with a 90004 (but i will try with others DECKARDS too) and "Tigger's Honey Hunt" and "Future Cop: LAPD", is it possible that I noticed a slightly better framerate? Or was just my immagination? o_O Unfortunately I don't have two identical copies of the same game or I could have easily made a comparison with another 90004.

There has always been an anonymous or more in the scene.
Not because of copyright or whatever.
They just don't like being famous and get people asking them every 10 minutes if the next version is ready.

It would be possible, making some tweaks to this driver to correct games that are not correctly rendered on Ps2, like Silent Hill draw distance (particularly noticeable outside with the fog)?

If only models with a real IOP could run PSX from USB without having to use emulators like POPS even though POPS is even more amazing with all of hugopocked's fixes.

With POPS beyond the possibility to run from any device you also get IGR, VMCs, Cheat engine... With some more work, reaching a very high level of compatibility (100% hopefully :D ), it would have no competitors.

Interesting, I'll have to try this on my PSXes and see if this will help with it only reading JP PS1 discs, even with Mechapwn 3.0. I've been using a swap disc to play American PS1 games but if this will auto patch that, this is great!

EDIT: I should read more carefully next time... black screen on a NTSC-U/C game. Figures it's not that easy...

Sorry for necro, but I am in the same scenario. Looking for a way to play ntsc-u games on the psx desr.

So far, the only solution I found was using a modchip.

I didn't know about the disc swap, I'll try it out. Thanks!

Do you still use the disc swap method or is there some new method that I missed?

Is this one a mix of PSXLauncher, PS1 Driver Update, PS1VModeNeg with Config Save? Probably the most interesting project recently...
