DKWDRV

PS2 DKWDRV Unified PS1DRV for all PS2 models 1.7.6h

No, they cannot be, because that would be complete nonsensical. ;) If you asking if burned disc can be used, then yes, but keep in mind that you need something which neglect MechaCon to pass through the disc in the first place.

Why? Every PS3 firmware have build-in PSX emulators. It is enough to mount image by WMM and start it from disc icon in XMB on Game category.

Emulating platform (PSX) on emulated platform (PS2 on PS3) is very bad idea in the first place. ;)

DKWDRV 1.7.6f is out!

Changelog:
  • PGIF consoles: If component fix is selected and VMODE is set to Auto it will fallback to console default video mode! Force the videomode to other region to make it work. This change was added because COMPONENT FIX needs to access DVE regs over the IOP which will cause a stall on EE! Only impacts PGIF with COMPONENT fix mode!
  • For this console only you need to set fixed PER GAME. Fixes #107
  • PGIF/DECKARD - A bug with mecha values not being loaded from internal database has been fixed. All games having mecha configs in internal database were impacted. Sorry, recheck the list of games here and here and edit mecha value to it.
  • PGIF/DECKARD - Moved AutoVMode code elsewhere, should be more stable but needs testing.
  • PGIF - Fix PGIFIntr handler.
  • PGIF - Fix bug with GPU A0 sub cmd. Fixes #108 #86 #98.
  • USB - Added IGR combo. Keep R1+R2+L1+L2+SELECT pressed for ~4 seconds for poweroff. Keep R1+R2+L1+L2+START pressed for ~4 seconds for console reset.
  • Let's close some issues and move on from fixing bugs! October is not over yet...

DKWDRV v1.7.6g is out!

Changelog:
  • PGIF/DECKARD consoles: More changes to automatic video mode that was again breaking some PGIF and DECKARD randomly. Should fix #116, #107. Let's hope this is the last of bugs for videomodes and PGIF models.
  • Test for any regression because we are moving forward quickly from all this old mess.

I was able to launch ps1 backups on ps2 slims with swap disc method, stopping disk, blocking lid sensor, swapping disc and then launching disc via DKWDRV. Something changed with new versions? Obviously i was using an high TOC ps1 original disc and obviously CDDA tracks were not available, as well as import-unpatched games, however most of ps1 games worked without doing any complex operations. Which is the last swap disc version available? I dunno if this issue has something to do with 3.11J RCP-1 DVD Player. If you think that is dvd update related i can try to delete it.

-EDIT-
No, I didn't remember correctly, i was using PSX Launcher by vegito_93, and it still works:
https://www.psx-place.com/resources/psxlauncher-elf-by-vegito_93.689/
Why in the world this function (to load toc and then stop disc) is not present into DKWDRV?

-EDIT#2-
Ok it's related to some kind of problem with DKWDRV, because "Launch Original PS1DRV" works fine. I was watching some videos on YouTube and it seems that DKWDRV modifies the SCEE boot sequence altering the strings below PS logo. This way neither original PS1 discs nor PS1 backups won't start. This is a very stupid behaviour, this way it's not possible to launch anything with DKWDRV, maybe only from USB on deckard, I don't know... I suggest the developers to delete such a feature and instead autodetect console region and patch bootlogo strings to match the standard for the region or leave the strings as they are.

Maybe it's done to ignore the bootstrap in TBIN because if you insert a hybrid disc it'll still recognise it as the original data type instead of a ps1 disc.

PS2 DKWDRV v1.7.6h is out!

Changelog:
  • PGIF/DECKARD - Another bug for vmode switching. PS2 HDMI adapter and the whole GS regs thing are such an obscure thing! Should fix some issues.
  • Controller code switched to the use used by OPL. The previous one from uLE would randomly go crazy when scrolling.
  • Test if anything broke!
