Downgrading with QA flags NAND console

I have a cecha that I want to downgrade via qa flags the lowest firmware I was able to get too was 2.50 going down slowly firm a couple of firmwares to not risk brick I can only downgrade via recovery mode I know that's when recovery mode was introduced I want to go to 1.70 but every time I try that update it gives the ps3s HDD BSOD and I have to format via my pc. Is there anyway I could go to 1.70? I've tried usb and game disc. Would I have to get a nand flasher? Thanks

EDIT: was able to get to my desired FW via FSM method qa flags suck.

1. Use punctuation marks, maybe then people will understand you better.
2. AFAIK you do not need recovery mode to downgrade, just make sure your PS3 remains on CFW until you reach the desired version.
3. In most cases you cannot go lower than the firmware version your console shipped with. If it originally came with firmware higher than 1.70 you probably won't be able to downgrade it that far.

FSM mode is better. I was able to go to 1.02 from 3.55. My console is October 2006 lowest firmware is 1.00 from factory. QA flags only let me go to 2.50.

Indeed, similar is with higher fw version than 3.55 and downgrading to lower than 3.55. But FSM cannot be used above 3.56 for installing fw so it is not always easy. Not to mention You need "escaping lv2diag" and compatible mass storage on USB to use that.

Yes I've used FSM for e3 flashers and remarrying in the past. Was still kind of scary, as I don't have an nand flasher. I was able to exit though. Firmwares that low don't seem to tell you that you're still in FSM. If I didn't have experience in the past with it I would thought I was out of it after downgrade.
