ESR

PS2 ESR r10f

I honestly don't know how to work with these tools . I have the PAL version and i want to finish my game on a better disc . I never thought there would be a problem with the DVD9 version. For example, GOW games work ok with the same procedure .

The apps will display nothing.
You need to have an ESR patched DVD inserted in your console before launching them for them to do something.

I believe I got r10f to boot normally. I can insert an ESR-patched disk into the machine and it will load automatically. No need to click ESR from the OSDSYS menu of FMCB. I believe my ps2 has a hard time reading DVD-R's though. Sometimes I have to reset the thing 2-4x for the disk to actually play. No issues with CD-R's.

max payne 2 slus 208.14 esr patched disc still freezing at part 1 chapter 3. ESR version r10f direct off. Also tried direct on it freezes at part 1 chapter 2
Max Payne was dope. You could slow down time. I remember having to take a bunch of pain killers and the screen would get blurry when you had low health. I used to see pre-owned copies of MP3 for like $3 at Gamestop. I should have picked it up. Now you gotta go to Ebay, Amazon, or one of those retro shops that has everything from Atari to PS5.

I need help with Gran Turismo 3. I'm using FDVDB_ESR_Patcher_GUI_v0.4, and it gets stuck after the second screen where it says "Sony Computer Entertainment America Presents".
I made a copy of my own disc for the game which is in great condition.
My original works fine.

Thank you, and sorry for my little mistake there!
Also, oh my god, I thought I had solved my own issue, Gran Turismo 3 can get past the black screen with ESR r9 (a, b and c), and it can actually play 1 race! Only that when the race ends and it has to load what happens next, it freezes there with the blinking white square in the top left corner.

I hope this info is useful in the future... :blue:

I wonder if this has to do with PAL vs NTSC? Is there a possibility that the version of GT that was tested for ESR is PAL, but more work needs to be done for NTSC?

Some won't work; I remember Tekken 5 crapping out when I pick a classic Tekken game or the story mode.

Some would start or not on boot up.

It's an awesome tool, but it's not perfect.

People don't understand that ESR have few versions, and there is no one-ultimate to support all cases. Mainly there is Direct and Direct Off versions, and now both with old well tested R9b (GUI Test2 using it) and newer R10f (in theory far better but less tested). Plus, I'm not sure but I believe mentioned patcher above, using exploit for DVD-Video player, not fake UDF table to disguise disc as DVD-Video to be used by ESR. Two totally different things.

I have official Gran Turismo disk. I finally got PS2 Mega man Anniversary Collection to boot pretty good rate using ESR so I'm happy. But I already beat most games inside using network adapter and prefer that method + OPL.

Having the same issue with Gran Turismo 4
Me as well actually, only the first screen with text, and then bam. Black screen.

Well... people don't understand that about ESR perhaps because it's not really explicitly said anywhere with enough clarity XD
Each new version just comes with a changelog, typical of a program you're supposed to just use the latest version of.
But if we needed different ESR versions to be able to run more games, I wouldn't mind that at all really. I would personally assign a different ESR to each game. I just need to know that that's how it's supposed to be.

Sorry, what is the correct patcher ?

For ESR, the ESR Patcher from ffgriever. Or ESR Patcher Pro but forgot who was the author, because I never used it (ffg app allows to patch only one game at time, while EPP many).

Here it's said ESR allows to run DVD discs patched to DVDV format on unmodified PS2s but how is that even possible if ESR can only be run in modded consoles? Is it talking about modchips, thus excluding FMCB MCs?
