PS2 ESR r10f

r10c tested by me with the modchip version (direct). The result should not be different using the normal version, so just write r10c.

You should be able to edit this post.
I can't unmerge it.

Try not post one message after another in short period of time.
It creates a bit of chaos.
You can always edit your post.

Or "+Quote" as many massages as you want in one message.

WTF? Are you sure this is trustable info?

I have finally got some time for test.

As you before I cannot launch Ratchet And Clank: Up Your Arsenal (SCUS_973.53).
Tried direct\direct off r10e with debug colors
and r9b direct.

I'm getting BSOD after debug colors.

BTW I don't know when I will have a time to update this compatibility list.
This list that you give me is kind of a raw.
Also what about:
Chaos Legion (SLUS-20695) [direct required]

This apply "esr_r10e_direct" or "esr_r10e_direct_off"?

Scratch that, found answer
Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy (SCUS-97124) [direct off required]
Hitman 2: Silent Assasin (SLUS-20374) [direct required]

Explain...

These report are in good (alphabetic) order, also quite transparent:

These are not:

I will try to add some of these reports... in free time.

What's the difference between direct, direct_off and mcard?

"dvd direct" version - is intended for launching games directly from dvd (but can also launch homebrew apps from DVDV discs, just SYSTEM.CNF and proper elf is needed)

"dvd direct off" - it has similar feature that as OPL\hdloader "mode 3"
Will disable ESR after first IOP reset (might be necessary for some games)

"mcard" - will launch elf files in either mcx:/BOOT/BOOT.ELF or mcx:/B?DATA-SYSTEM/BOOT.ELF

Taken and modified a bit from old readme in ESR_r9b

That's because some of them where copied directly from discord and the text format was lost somehow.
The arranged ones are from a txt file from haldrie.

hello guys.. i need some help with esr patcher.. i have the 0.24a version that has the .exe file inside... what is is this r10e version that has 3 elf files inside? is it an update for esr 0.24 or something different?

Name of this app is ESR disk disc patcher (.exe).
There is also ESRPatcher by insanity5000 (.exe).

Both these apps are to patch your ISO, after patching you will need to write it to the disc.

On PS2 you need an app (.elf) to load this prepared disc.
ESR r10e or any other previous version is for that.
Reason for editing: Fixed typo (thanks Berion)

Nowadays I'd suggest Jabu's FDVDB+ESR-Patcher GUI (0.3) or even wait for FDVDB to be multi-compatible.

ESR Disc Patcher :P

In English, 'disk' and 'disc' are phonetic similar, yet two different things while 'we' have for both just totally different names ('dysk' vs 'płyta').

ESR Disc Patcher and ESR itself have different purposes. First one, is for patching disc images. Second is console side application which doing unicorns. ;)

And it doesn't need to be updated because on disc, there is no additional code. "ESR patch" is just a modification of UDF table to imitate DVD-Video and fools Mechacon that this is not PS2 game disc (because only DVD-Video plus CDDA is allowed to run from DVD-/+R/RW/+M plus CD-R/RW; if SYSTEM.CNF is found in table, which have highest priority, then whole security chain is check which we don't want to ;)). And that's why ESR app have access to the disc in the first place. If Sony allow all discs to be -ROM types only, then ESR and UMCDR/CDX wouldn't be possible.

Speaking of which: if FFGriever still works on ESR (?) maybe he could add UMCDR or CDX for CD games. Many CD titles using LBA and/or media flag checking which is annoying to patch. With support for this ancient trick, we could forget about this limitation.

I mean, FreeDVDBoot+ESR is great, but you need to have confirmation, that game is ESR compatible, otherwise you just waste a DVD. On the other side, if the game is ESR compatible, then yes, that combo is the best way to burn your legally obtained backups ;)

You can report it and hope, that it'll be fixed by ffgriever. Once it is, you'll be able to use generic ESR discs, but for FDVDB+ESR discs, you would have to burn them again with newer ESR binary.
