Fan speed question?

I have 3 OG Fat PS3's. 2 A01's and a MG E01.
I been using the MG E01 and a while back, I forgot to turn it off before I went to bed and it stayed on for roughly 8 hours plus before I noticed it. So, I turned it off and left it at that. Well I thought, I had the GLOD then, because I wasn't getting any signal, the next time I used it. Recently decided to retry it and the system worked. But it would freeze if it got too hot. So, I'm wondering what's my best option would be here? Obviously sending it off to get fixed like a frankie would be the main option, but I don't have the funds and I would rather trade all three towards one if possible. Its on a low firmware before 3.55. I bought this and the two other ones from GameStop years ago, and someone traded them in with low firmware lol.

So, I'm assuming, I would update the system to 4.93 Evilnat CFW and do the fan speed mod? Is this going to make the device worse off? Or will this prolong it?

Not all freezing problems are the RSX. Its probably the RSX but it could be a HDD problem or other things.

Also, you shouldnt attempt to update to CFW if the console has freezing problems. You run a higher chance of bricking it.

Most shops will gladly accept BC units as trade ins in exchange for a frankie. I do. If you do get someone to frankenstein it please tell them its on low FW because they will have to get a 90nm working on it first so it can be updated to 3.55

I dont see much of a problem running it until it dies or you obtain the funds for a frankie. Just ramp up the fans and monitor the temps when playing.
