I'm enjoying a lot this emulator.

I had some glitches like no sound in donkey Kong games and all Fantasia ROMs with bad graphics.

I'm trying to put snes ROMs, I had some .smc ROMs but when I try to scan it, doesn't find anything. So I placed it in /dev_usb000/ROMs/snes and still doesn't find nothing.

Sometimes it's freezing during scan.

Hope someone have a way to help me!

anyone is willing to pm me in order to explain me what set of rom i should use and how to use this , what look like an incredible pkg (thanks for all your hard work crystal!) like someone mentionned earlier , a video tutorial of how to use this thing would be really really useful.

Download FBNeo RL plus 2.0 (base version). and install it.
Search a good rom set (fbneo 0.2.97.44 romset) e put roms files (zips) in a folder inside your PS3.
Start Fb Neo ...

Options...

Set a Roms path (there are 12 available) to your folder with roms:

(START button to select)
Back to file FIL LIST.... enjoy.
Tip for roms.... try to search inside Youtube.... (Azvarel RetroGamer channel)

FBNeo core is a libretro stardard core, so go to in game menù (L3+R3), (Main Menù) ..go to Settings, go to Input and there are Key Binds.

Some issues:

Cannot apply shaders, only using older from previous retroarch, with .cgp extension;

Save config is not possible, only new config;

FBA core dont save overlay setting (deleting fba.cfg seems to solve the problem). GenesisGX is ok;

Reset default config freezes the emu;
Disable category filters is broken. all of them is displayed;

Sometimes scan rom folders that was recently added freezes the entire system;

CPS3 games are freezing system or crash emu to xmb, and SEGACD games have sound stuttering. Maybe a core issue, RetroArch suffer the same problems. Without any shaders and overlays, it sometimes works.

I notice a input lag in some games like sf2 and goldnaxe, not tested more...not sure if its an issue.

EDIT: more issues and a solved one.

Dont worry, mame world is an hard battle to fight.
Look at first post, you can see some link about games list (arcade, snes and maga drive). They are google sheets about xml dat from mame. If you want original dat:

C:\tmp\mame221>mame64.exe -listsoftware > out.xml

then open out.xml with a text editor (notepad++ is better) and search the target system.

Unfortunatly issues coming from Retro arch layer and libretro cores cannot be solved directly by me. I will study some workarounds.

I downloaded a version FB_NEOPLUS_RL_1.20_[20200227]_[CEX_34X_4XX]_[BASE] and i installed roms at the good place on the hdd but strangely was not able to start anything , probably roms coming from not good compatible set.

I will erase it and follow your tips.

3X QUESTION :

(1) I ABSOLUTELLY need to read my roms from a USB device , it is possible with FBNeo RL plus 2.0 ?
(2) are you able to run PUNISHER Arcade mame with music at the introduction ?? I dream of this since years...
(3) did FBNeo RL plus 2.0 will allow me to play game like : TERMINATOR 2 & ALIEN 3 The Gun ??
(4) are you able to adjust PS3 Controller to use the aim for theses two games , if yes , HOW ?

...so im wondering , its a fully compatible set or i should specifically seek for a 0.2.97.44 set tagger "FBNEO" ??

EDIT : Did your FBNeo RL plus 2.0 is able to play KILLER INSTINCT I-II (Arcade Mame) on a PS3 console ?
...I assume not , but just to know....(finger crossing)

No matter what, every time I try to run it, the thing just keeps hanging on the loading screen

0.2.97.44 is a version of FB Alpha/FB Neo. Mame use 0.xxx notation. So ok.
About games that need CHDs, i'm sorry but doesn't exist emulator on PS3 capable to handling them. At least, that I know of.

Have you tried to select a folder inside USB?

TERMINATOR 2 is a sega32 game and ALIEN 3 is a midway game. FB neo (for PS3) core doesn't work with this type of games.
FB neo rl plus use mame 0.125 core to play them. So it become a bit more complex.
You have to find mame 0.125 rom set of them, put zips in a folder named MAME125 and select it as (another) rom folder.

Just installed Rebug 4.86.1 Lite from here, FBNeo RL works.
Other things installed: Rebug Toolbox, mmCm, webMan MOD, Simple file manager and Original GTA V. Nothing else.
You have something that fights with FBNeo... i dont know what....
