Randy Pitchford has released the first photos of an actual unopened PS5 game (Godfall Ascended Edition), and also showed us what the game disc looks like once it has been opened. Take a look below for images showing the front of the PS5 Game Case, the back, and well as a look at the inside contents of the case.

NOTE: Even though the back of the case states the game offers "No Offline Mode", the developers have been quoted saying this is not the case, and a single-player/offline experience will be available.

Attention fellow game lovers, peers and enthusiasts: Behold the first Playstation 5 game! Hot off the presses, this is the first to manufacture next gen retail game in the world. Congratulations to Counterplay Games and the team here at Gearbox Publishing!

They look so much smaller kinda like a gamecube game but it's blu-ray which means stupid space on them.

Glad they are shrinking the box sizes to since half the time its just wasted space.

I thought the same, it looks they have reduced the height to the "common sense" dimensions :)

The disc have a diameter of 12cm... so the case should be something around 13.5x15cm as much

Maybe it is only optical illusion but for me it looks like 8cm discs. Which means PS5BD-ROM could handle ~30GiB with another assumption that this is dual layer disc. I hope not because this means mandatory gigantic patch for most of games (like i.e in Spyro Trilogy where on disc was only first Spyro game and other two can be downloaded as patch).

:(

With having smaller game discs to when the game size starts to grow again (looking at you cod mw) then they can increase the disk size back to standard or they will probably just dump all the data onto the sata storage and load it from therem.

Definitely looks like a normal sized disc to me, based on scaling my hand to the hand in the images. But who knows, we will have to wait another month before we find out.

Think about the size of the hole in the middle of the disc compared to the rest of the disc space, also the size of that persons thumb to the back of the box its definatly smaller.

You are right through will have to wait for a release or spec sheet relase to truely know the sizes.

I think is a standard size BD, is just the case looks a bit more "squared"
Probably becase they have reduced the height of the case (but mantained the width)

In the PS3 cases there was an area at top completly transparent that was a waste of plastic (= waste of money), the purpose was just a cool visual effect, also to have the "booklet" a bit rectangular (like a book, that uses to have bigger height than width)
In the PS4 case they covered the area at top with the game cover, so there was no visual effect anymore, and the booklet was still rectangular (but the waste of plastic stayed)
And now with PS5 it looks they are in the limit of having a booklet a bit rectangled (instead the booklet of the PS1 cases that was a perfect square)

To me it looks like they reduced manufacturing costs, just because is needed a bit less plastic, visually it looks fine in my oppinion
The case have a lot of tiny details "copyed" from the previous playstation cases btw (the good details that was working fine), is not really a design from scratch but an evolution

The PS4 game cases are 13.5x19cm btw
In the PS5 game cases probably they have respected the 13.5 width because is a bit like an standard... but the height seems to be smaller than 19cm

The smallest they could go by reducing height was 13.5x13.5cm (to create a perfect square, you know, like the PS1 game cases) :D
