It is strange how github sort closed issues by default.

"Cant rename file/folders on a mounted VMC"
has been closed 17 days ago and the last comment\message also is from 17 days,
but it's sorted by Newest as 1st.

While "TV MODE: Progressive bug" has been closed 19\06\2018, so at lest 6 mounts
and it has been commented a day ago, but it's sorted by Newest as 12th.

Theoretically it can be sorted as Least commented...

Anyway.
It's not not fully wLe fault that its switches onto 480p and it can switch buttons mapping.
"LAUNCHELF.CNF" will be copied into "BOOT" folder on MC, so wLe will use this settings as default.
While I was testing FHDB everything was fine, because this file is not in "BOOT-HDD" folder.

So for me it was good choice that I posted this "issue" at FMCB\FHDB thread.
At least the assumption was confirmed.
I don't have my slim PS2 at home, so I made this test elsewhere with FMCB and I post it here.
I don't have a github account, so I cannot fully follow everything that is going on there.

I understand, but the sorting by newest is on by the default at github.
So when someone comment closed thread it'll not be automatically sorted as highest.
When someone doesn't have an account, he will not be notify.

At forums this system works differently as the default.
Last answer always "pull ups" given thread,
so it is easier to see it even without registration.

Hi.
Since I've installed i guess 1.95 all the way up to the latest 1.965, I keep getting the "DVD player is not set up." message with ESR patched game discs. (recognised as video DVD)
Sometimes after some reboots, it works. However if I unplug/replug the console, I get same message.
I can confirm, that earlier versions from 1.8 to 1.93 are working perfectly fine every time.
Copying everything (including ESR.ELF) from working old versions to new one, changes nothing.

Does this problem happens also with quick boot, or it happens only after FMCB will fully boot?

I remember that in one FMCB release there was a problem with ESR.
It was probably 1.95... but I'm not sure what current version was it.

Have you tried to update FREEMCB.CNF?
I mean when the FMCB instalator will ask you:
do you want to keep FREEMCB.CNF, you select no?

You can copy FREEMCB.CNF from mc?/SYS-CONF/ to a USB drive for a backup.

Do you have any files on MC with FMCB that you need?
If not, try to format your MC in installer and try fresh install.

What kind of an install you've tried (Normal, multi ...)?

Currently I've FMCB\FHDB v1.965 (08\12\2018) on 3 consoles and none of them seems to have any problem with ESR,
but that doesn't means that there might not be something wrong.
I've got only normal installs of a FMCB\FHDB with ESR r9b.

I forgot to mention, that every time I made an istallation (I always do multi) I formatted the mc before. And it does the same thing even with a fresh install.

By quickboot you mean before FMCB menu appears, and ESR starts? Yes it also happens there.

Few minutes ago, I've installed FMCB v1.965 (08\12\2018) on SCPH-50004.
I've tried multi-install. Copied ESR r9b and everything seems to be fine.
I've tried MC in two slots.
Tried fast boot and after FMCB menu appear.

Path to my ESR in ESR settings I've set is:
mc?:/APPS/ESR_r9b.elf

Are you using original $ony MC card?
Have you tried MC in two different slots?
If you have 2 MC, have you tried the only one with FMCB, plug out the one without FMCB?

Console is 75004. (have 2 other consoles, but laser is bad on them)
I spent hours now, trying all sorts of combinations.
I kept ESR path as original, (mc?:/BOOT/ESR.ELF) file is from this archive: ESR_GUI_test2.rar
Now somehow it is consistently working with 1.965 install and ESR mentioned above.

I still have a mc with 1.964 installed on it that does not work. Tried to copy everything (even 1 by 1) from working mc's SYS-CONF to it, same ESR, not working.
As I mentioned, reset does not affect it, only complete unplug/replug of console.
(for ex. if I start the console with a working mc, ESR detects the disc, than I swap cards, reset the console, it works)

There surely something has been changed in latest versions, maybe sp193 can hunt it down.

Also the TV_mode in ULE config has been changed from 0 to 4. Now my TV switches to blue screen if I start ULE.
(is there a button combo that changes this back to default 0=auto?)

Can you try only ESR_r9b without GUI?

I'll also try ESR_r9b on my other console (SCPH-79003) and report ASAP.

If you already have a problem w 480p when you'll launch wLe, delete "LAUNCHELF.CNF" from mc?:/BOOT.
Use FMCB configurator to make path for wLe without "LAUNCHELF.CNF", e.g. to wLe on USB HDD.

ps. I was who tried to post on psx-scene without success.

This site currently have many problems, especially when you're new user.
That's why I'm trying to move here as many dev and their projects as I can.

As long as FMCB is properly installed (including the Loader and the USB-Drivers), you can start 'RESCUE.ELF' on old FMCB-Versions and AFAIR it got renamed to 'recovery.elf'.

Tried with only one, and all other combination.
No GUI ESR also does not work. I'm absolute confident, that it is not an ESR issue.

Why not update it also from 1.964 to 1.965?

I'm keeping it for testing purposes.

If you already have a problem w 480p when you'll launch wLe, delete "LAUNCHELF.CNF" from mc?:/BOOT.

I've changed LAUNCHELF.CNF "TV_mode" parameter in install package from 4 to 0.

Maybe your laser is having a problems with reading disks?
I mean I've similar problem when laser (PVR-802W) in SCPH-77004 was dying.
At first I was having a problems with my backup games.
Sometimes it also kicks me into dvd player is not set up instead of ESR.
Later also org disks started to have problems.

I've checked FMCB v1.965 (08\12\2018) with different memory card and different console (SCPH-79003).
Tried 3 backup games, fast boot, after FMCB will be fully launch and everything seems to be fine.
Tried MC in both slots.

Can you check FMCB v1.965 (08\12\2018) on a different console (maybe some of your friends have at least one working PS2)?

EDIT: I've checked Changelog.txt from FMCB\FHDB v1.965 (08\12\2018) package.
Problem with ESR was solved in v1.95 - 06\01\2016.

BTW @sp193 can you delete "LAUNCHELF.CNF from ".../INSTALL/BOOT/" in FMCB package.
It seems this file is causing a problems on TV that does not supports 480p.

"DVD Player is not set up" -> ESR.ELF could not be found. Check the configurator, to check that you have ESR in the right place. Ensure that you load the right settings file (a settings file from mass:/ will take precedence).

If you have a modchip, try to disable it as well. Ever since v1.96 was released with the new DVD Player support code, some modchips have been going crazy.

I'm keeping it for testing purposes.

Please delete it (includes the LaunchELF version that comes with it). It contains USBHDFSD modules that can corrupt your USB disks if you use it to write files.
v1.965 was released to solve all such problems with the bundled software, even though it is not a FMCB problem.

In fact, replace all software that were built between June and the end of October 2018.

The same could happen, if it doesn't recognize the +NSR-Sector, but does notice that it is a DVD-Video-Disc. That's usually an indication of the laser starting to make problems. It can be partially avoided by re-checking for the +NSR-Sector, but not totally! It entirely depends on the remaining ability of the laser, to read it properly.

Did you tried to install FMCB 1.93 on MC with FMCB 1.965?

BTW There might be something with FMCB+ESR, it just...
for now everything is fine with my consoles.
I've tried few configuration (SCPH-50004, 77004, 79003),
different MC's (all genuine 8 MB), different install "modes" (normal, multi),
different method to launch ESR (fast boot, after FMCB will be fully booted),
different games.
You've 75004, so we even have the same region.

We just needs more reports.

Did you tried to install FMCB 1.93 on MC with FMCB 1.965?

I always format before install, but can't remember if I've installed 1.965 before on that card.
But my old 1.8 card was untouched since years, and it works...
(I don't have a modchip)

btw. I have noticed, that if a multi install was already on a card, than I format and install a normal (no multi, no cross region, no cross model) 1.965, FMCB works on different consoles. (75004, 70004, 30004)
