PS VITA / PS TV FontInstaller (by cxziaho) - Installs fontRedirect plugin & Also Select Font via GUI

Recently developer cxziaho released the fontRedirect plugin, but the dev did not stop with just the plugin, developing farther a new app FontInstaller (installable vpk) is introduced for HENkaku which will install the plugin but also contains a useful interface for selecting various fonts stored in ux0:data/font/. However do note there is still some bugs when changing font in some games that will result in a crash. So expect some errors and use that at your own risk, but great to see a new level of customaztion on our exploited PS Vita's & PlayStation TV's.

  • FontInstaller
An app for installing the fontRedirect plugin, and selecting fonts using a GUI. Hopefully it isn't too buggy, but if you can do better please feel free to rewrite it!

Important Notes: Currently, the fontRedirect plugin causes certain games to crash on opening them (Gravity Rush, Ys 8 JP English Patched and Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1 for example) and I wont be able to fix this for a while. This is not permanent, just uninstall the plugin. If you manage to fix this, submit a pull request and I will accept it! :)

    Info
    • fontInstaller reads fonts in ux0:data/font/, which can be either .otf or .ttf. It reads up to 256 font files before stopping.

    Getting Started
    • Install the VPK file, open it and wait for the plugin to be installed. Add fonts to ux0:data/font/ and open the app again (this can be done before initial install as well). Select a font in the app and press start, then your enter button, CIRCLE or CROSS. Your Vita should restart with this new font, and will keep this font unless you boot without plugins or change font.

to remove any confusion, ux0:/data/font is where you place the otf or ttf files. the real location for fonts is: sa0:/data/font this plugin merely "redirects" them to ux0. I doubt it replaces them in sa0 since that could be potentially dangerous. ;)

This is a safer solution as most users should not mess with the real location as it can cause damage to your vita/pstv.

u can try this site: http://www.dafont.com/

or this one if it's in the wrong format on that site: http://www.freefontconverter.com/

these both r taken from my font tutorial for the ps3. remember: font size is key, so u may want one that's close in size to the original. that could be the reason for crashes.

also, custom fonts r unlikely to be in the recovery menu. they aren't on the ps3 at least, so if something goes horribly wrong, u can always reinstall the firmware. @atreyu187 has a tutorial on installing specific firmware for both the vita and the pstv. the vita uses qcma and the updates folder, so u should be safe. however, I don't know what will happen if u have enso installed. it will most likely be overwritten. I'd suggest uninstalling it first. I did this and reinstalled 3.60 after something got messed up. no harm in doing that.
