PS2 Free MCBoot Autoboot to OPL instead of going to the Free MCBoot Browser List (OSDSYS)

FMCB itself didn't come with the apps you want. Like with your PC, phone etc, you can download whatever you want and copy it to your PS2.

One way to get a good, working copy of FMCB is to actually install it yourself. Hopefully with a good memory card.

You can actually use FMCB with your saves. There's no need to format it. Installing FMCB is not actually more risky than copying files to it, as that is what the installer really does - copy files over to the memory card.

It's not a 100% failure. What might actually be happening, is the modchip modifying some code in EE memory, that results in FMCB and/or some thing not working properly. All this, depends on the modchip (not whether it's a clone) and what's in EE memory.

A normal, clean PS2 doesn't have something extra like a modchip changing memory...

If you're using FMCB v1.8c and later, it did not support OSDSYS from the SCPH-10000 and SCPH-15000. This was one goal, when I proposed to add new features to FMCB.

What did you do? Power off?

I don't know how you're running SMS 2.9, but if you used my hack of it - I only got it working and didn't test all functions. Back in 2004, the perhaps the existence of the SCPH-10000 wasn't really known and/or people tend to write code for the PS2s they could find.

If you are using a normal, clean copy of SMS - SMS did not support the SCPH-10000/SCPH-15000 because it used some board-specific modules that are only present in the newer models.
It's not a problem with the console, but with how homebrew software was once commonly written.
Well guess I'm stuck with this freaking SCPH-10000. If only i knew pros and cons about PS2 version back then, i will not buy this version.

I didn't power it off. I put SMS.ELF inside the MC and set E1 like in the picture before, it's just like that when it start and I'm using this sms https://www.psx-place.com/resources/sms-simple-media-system-2-9-rev-4.374/

Like I said, it isn't actually a problem with the hardware. Get the right software and it'll be okay. I knew some models were being neglected, so I tried to make changes in 2013.

People likely didn't realize how to not code software, so software from the earlier days tend to be like that. The same said software would also fail to work on other uncommon PS2s, such as the TOOL, PSX and the arcade consoles.
This is so unlike the official Sony design, which allowed all games to be forward and backward compatible with all PS2 models. In terms of games, the experience is quite unified.

The SCPH-10000 is actually my favourite model, being made in Japan (likely by a Sony plant too) and perhaps represented the original design of the PS2.

If you must really use SMS (rather than another device with more power for HD video etc), you could use my mod of it.

You need to take some files from a newer PS2 because the freesd.irx from our homebrew SDK (at least, back in 2012 anyway) didn't work with SMS for some reason. By then, it wasn't possible to build a new version with the SDK, so it stayed like that.

That modded SMS needs libsd.irx, is this the right one and can i use it? I got it from AC4 ISO file

You could try. However, since SMS was made to use a board-specific file, it might very well only work with a early version of libsd.irx. The best would be to provide what it expects, which is a libsd.irx module from another PS2's ROM. Otherwise, you might also find compatible modules from early games. Early, as in after libsd.irx first started appearing.

Unlike the normal one, this modded SMS didn't boot at all. I'm sure the libsd.irx placement is rightView attachment 26959
Again, I can only guess...
  • Try naming the file "LIBSD.irx" (with the extension in lower-case). I seem to have lost the source code for this, but the filename in the ELF seems to be named "LIBSD.irx".
  • Launch SMS from a USB disk. As the README file said, I must have only used a USB disk.
  • Get LIBSD.IRX from a different PS2 console, not from a game. If you don't know how to do that, you could also PM me.

On a side note: If you're not using a new version of FMCB, at least please use a new version of LaunchELF? If you're not a fan of our newer, even more unofficial-unofficial versions, at least use the last version of uLaunchELF, which is 4.42d from 2013? The patch (even the old version from Jimmikaelkael) for the SCPH-10000 ExecPS2() syscall was introduced with v4.42. Unless you're absolutely sure that the version of FMCB you have actually patches ExecPS2(), it's perhaps best to use a copy of LaunchELF that is known to. For example, FMCB v1.8b probably doesn't, while v1.8c does.

I've forgotten what it was really like in 2010 (since you're using LaunchELF 4.41), but I believe FMCB could be used to boot LaunchELF, which could then be used to boot other stuff. But the contemporary software which used ExecPS2(), tended to encounter problems.
