PS3 Game Patches

so far of the games ive tested ive only managed to get unlocked framerate on tlou and gta iv the other games ive tried (the godfather 1 and re5 gold, cod bo1, wangan midnight) dont work with the ones on the rpcs3 database.

its still a metldr2 console so its not like it can go much higher than 30 but its still fun to mess around with

Make sure the version and serial key coincide. Resident Evil 5 Gold Edition and Wangan Mightnight worked for me. Black Ops didn't, I wonder what is not allowing the patch to work. Still have to test The Godfather.

well wangan midnight wont work for whatever reason and re5 idk if its working or it had very little performance overhead to begin with since am seeing at most 30.10 fps on the intro chapter

I believe that PS3 has some kind of vsync that doesn't allow past 60 FPS or so, someone who has much more knownledge on PS3 could maybe confirm this. I tested my COD 4 patch before on PS3 and it's the same case as BO1, doesn't get past 60 FPS, I assume WAW is the same. Also tested dragon's dogma and it barely goes above 30 FPS lol.

on Syndicate, you can unlock the framerate on the ENVIRONMENT_PS3.CFG by changing the value on the vsync command to 0 and the game becomes fully unlocked.
also found the command for vsync for F.E.A.R. 2 in my PC save and now I'll have to put it on the autoexec to test on console. once it's tested I'll post the photos here. :biggrin2:
the vsync command for F.E.A.R. 2 is
"VSyncOnFlip" "1.000000" , so you change the 1 with a 0

EDIT 5:10pm GMT : the V-Sync command didn't work for F.E.A.R. 2 (maybe in settings.cfg it would work), also tried Chronicles of Riddick with no success. not every game will accept the v-sync commands.

I have tried Resident Evil 0 on a stock CECH-25xxA, was getting around 35-36 FPS on the first location after the cutscene intro. I assume the performance will be simillar in RE:HD since it's pretty much the same game. Also in the main menu I couldn't get above 60 FPS so PS3 may indeed not allow past that framerate (maybe there is a way to patch that out?).

Tried out Oblivion and in intro it runs anywhere from 20 to 60 FPS, depends on what is rendered at the time pretty much. There were places that you would get 60 FPS but then if you turned around you would drop to ~35 FPS. OC PS3 will definitely improve performance, if you would want to get above 60 FPS you would have to patch out PS3 vsync somehow or so.
EDIT: Forgot to mention that if you do unlock FPS in Oblivion, XMB will not render at least it didn't for me.

same result, xmb stops rendering but on my case also, if i enabled the cheat while on the main menu, when the menu to load game was supposed to show up, or i pressed x to choose the save file to load game or console froze i cant remember

Would someone be willing to share strategies for implementing RPCS3 patches on real hardware? I want to experiment with a patch that bumps up the resolution (and hopefully the FOV, since the hd trilogy achieves "widescreen" by cropping the 4:3 image) on the Jak trilogy.

if you run the game in folder format, check the oblivion.ini file and look for iPresentInterval = 1 and change to 0 to see if it makes any difference. this command is the one that controlls v-sync.

EDIT 8/6: Timeshift has a ini file with a bunch of stuff to play around.

I'm not sure why anyone is using Artemis, or even loading it via memory at boot with webman.. or changing it manually at every boot, just change the offset in the eboot. And post the eboots for download here or on GitHub…

Because it's easier and safer to apply a patch on memory than tampering with the EBOOT (decrypting, applying the patch, encrypting), which could break it if not done properly forcing you to recover it.

Arays of bits can be found with cheat engine but RPCS3's inaccuracy might show a wrong number or two.
Example: MGS3
Real Hardware: (600000007CDFE8508)
RPCS3: (600000007CDFE8510)

EDIT: EBOOT will show the correct values when decrypted.

And here is the app that can patch the eboot with patch.yml file from rpcs3

https://github.com/tge-was-taken/RPCS3PatchEboot

I was able to use RPCS3PatchEboot to patch Warhawk 1.50 using the 60fps patch. The game will hit 60fps quite a bit but the frame tearing when the fps dips is annoying. I hope to test this with another ps3 here soon, maybe it will overclock better. I think some of the performance issues might be cpu related.

Regarding RPCS3PatchEboot, I did run into an issue with it not parsing the patch.yaml file, not sure if it's broken or I'm doing it wrong. I ended up working around the file parse function for now and hardcoded the values I wanted to patch.

I'm going to throw some games out that are in dire need of aid;

Sacred 2 - Internal rendering on a 720p display is still 1080p because the programmer was an idiot, as a result the game doesn't even come close to holding 30FPS most of the time. Limiting the internal resolution to somewhere between 720p - 900p would dramatically improve performance for this game because it is both GPU and CPU limited. If you get rid of all resolutions above SD over HDMI on the PS3 then launch Sacred 2 it looks like crap but runs quite a bit better in a lot of situations. If there is a config setting to limit the number of enemies on screen (or a draw distance setting) that would fix the remaining performance problems with the game.

Castlevania Lords of Shadow - Runs pretty well with a moderate OC (650\750) but a locked frame rate to 30FPS would provide a far more consistent and enjoyable experience.

Vanquish - This game is all kinds of broken on PS3, if there's any settings that can be found and adjusted a more stable frame rate would be a big improvement alone.

I actually have like 90+ PS3 games but I haven't got around to trying them all out to know exactly what kind of attention they need to fix them. Maybe I missed it in this thread but if there is a tool that can extract config files if someone can point me to that tool I will start making patches for the games I currently have and release them when I've made necessary changes.
