So I got this brand new CECH-2501A. It Was a very good and cheap deal tbh

but sadly the CMOS battery seems to be dead since the console asking me to setup date and time every-time I switch on , which is very weird considering that this brand new console like how does my old used ps3 have its battery still alive while my new ones doesn't

Anyway after I installed the CFW I was shocked about the temp, its very hot for a brand new console

what do you guys think about this

I always read that CECH-2501A has the best temp and its the most reliable slim model but this console run hotter then my old CECH-2001

any idea why ?!

My 3K PS3 slim with 170 days of usage with MX-4 thermal paste year changed spring, 2021, runs around 55-60 idling at 33% fan speed and in-game is around 65 degrees. I can't comment on whether your temperature is good or bad but mine is like this temperature difference between on my Cell and RSX is minimal at 2-3 degrees.

Considering the release date I would guess the thermal paste has dried out, and to do a lets say perfect thermal past replacement I would delid gpu and cpu also. that's just my opinion. But a simple thermal paste replacement may just do the trick for you :D

Don't delid on slims and super slims, starting from cech-25XX as instead of glueing the ihs and the CPU chips they started to solder them.

Deliding on these motherboards will cause the cpu to break and ultimately render the console useless. Same goes for RSX.

Also, for slims and superslims heating [overheating] isnt a problem, that is only for the FATs

Ok then, replace the thermal paste?...maybe help also there are some YouTube videos by NSC that might be helpful for info on delid of many console versions. I was trying to give you all options. o_O

Yup I the only think may help here is new thermal paste but isn't weird for a 2h only console to run this much hot at %35 fan speed while also idle

thx anyway

Preaty hot for a CECH2501
I own one and in fact is the best Slim to buy

My CECH2501 with OC dosn't even go to 60 in games(35 static) MX-4 and SSD, use 2 grams of mx4 for the cpu and gpu, I don't recommend the dot in the Middle, use a spatula or if you dont have one use a butter knife or a ruler
I used the dot before and it run hotter than spredding it

Without OC I was having arround 53/5 57
320 days of play but It was never opened(no dust bunnies at all) and mostly use to watch netflix and youtube

Yup thats why I was surprise when I see the temp like that

Because everyone is saying CECH-25XX is the best model and I got this brand new console for $300 so It was very good deal for a rare item

I also place my console on a gaming table with free space around, also my room is very cold

changed the thermal paste is my only solution

thx for all the info, I also run OC in my CECH-20XX model and it run perfectly fine like I'm getting 60 while gaming

How do you get a new PS3 this days? Maybe a Super Slim out there but a Brand new slim?

Also forgot to ad, I have vertically mine, bought a Chepo 3r party stand is a réplica of the OEM one, I removed the logo in the stand with nailpolish and looks good in my red CECH2501 with CECH3000 case

The case swap It ain't as straight foward as It seems to be, the screws stay kinda loose but It is worth It

Temperature after 1 hour of gameplay and then idle.
Super Slim CECH-4204C (It stands vertically)
CPU: 67°
RSX: 62°
Fan %26 'Auto SYSCON'

The device has never been opened and repaired for 7 years. Do you think its temperature values are normal for a 7 year old device?

I don't want to open the device for nothing, so I wanted to ask.

Yup its something you wont see everyday, I saw this been listed in ebay and I bought it as soon as possible especially with this price I didn't even hesitate lol

the box did have little water damage on top, I guess that's why it was cheap, but no damage inside the box

try setting the fan speed at %35 at lower and you should get better temps hopefully

Wish I could buy OFF from ebay though, It seems to get great deals out of it

The only way to buy used stuff here is from facebook marketplace
