PS3 Gran Turismo 5 - Master Mod [Online multiplayer is back!]

Actually, the mod requires 2.11, if you're past that you'll have to uninstall and reinstall it again.

This is what has been occupying my time recently. Being able to buy all the cars at the dealerships is great;. IIRC the Formula Grand Turismo was only available at the online dealership.

If we have to stay to 2.11, how can we stop PS3 wantin to update game?

Param.sfo of Gran turismo?
It should work too, but it's better to edit PARAM.SFO of the latest package before install it (you will need to unpack, edit and repack). I didn't check if the mod has a PARAM.SFO inside, but if it has, probably that will override the latest installed PARAM.SFO, so it's better to edit that. Or you can also copy PARAM.SFO from PS3, edit it, and copy back to PS3...

Not "Param.sfo" but "PARAM.SFO". It is important to keeps case sensitive.
Yes, from GT, from install dir of course, not the game disc image/files dump.

It is not better because can be packaged back incorrectly. ;p But if someone know what it's doing, it doesn't matter of course.
Mod don't have PARAM.SFO.

Of course You can.
Yet I don't see how this question is related to changing game version.

If You already have GT5 on newest version, then delete install data, and install it again. Turn off internet to avoid update questions and install patches from USB one by one up to 2.11. After that, copy "dev_hdd0/game/<GT5 id>/PARAM.SFO" to PC, change app version to higher than last patch and copy file back overwriting old file. Rebuild database and from now it should be displayed in menu as this specific version which You set. Then You can turn internet on, game will ask servers for XML with updates and will not find anything new.

I thought that the "PE" suffix of the update package was something related to full update, without needing to installing each update one by one. I think I read somewhere about it.

@jcorrea do you know what "PE" means in update packages of game updates?

I don't know. I even rename patches to something human readable without CommID garbage. ;p
Example: "Gran Turismo 5 (BCES-00569) v1.05.pkg"

XML determine which versions are mandatory, and which aren't. In case of GT5, all started from v1.05, in this case, up to v2.11; In total ~4.13GiB, 21 files.

I don't know what PE means, but it's not full update for sure, because updating directlly from PS3, it downloads and install one package by one. And I think all update packages has PE at end (not sure, I'm not on front of my computer to check).

off-topic but i keep forgetting to ask... are you saving the xml's also? just wondering...

By the way, a late beta of the game was recently dumped. I think it was said to be 2 months before the game went to retail. Some things were shown off on it as unfinished. Would anything from this build potentially be able to be looked through and seen if anything that might have been scrapped late into development could be used in the latest version of the mod? I assume that since they left in all of those PS2 tracks in the files until a much later patch that maybe something of use could be found? I will not link to a download of the game for obvious reasons, but it is super easy to find. It was just recently dumped so hopefully something could come from it?

More info about the build, but no links to the game are on this link. You will still have to find it yourself. Google is your friend.

Most of it isnt functional enough including this track besides the two cars added in 1.7.0.
Unironically this track works, on GT6.

A bit of an odd question for @Nenkai, or anyone else. What video clips in the game use the PAM files on the Blue-Ray? Reason I ask, I am getting low on HDD space, but I have to play GT5 from the HDD because my disc is apparently scratched (somebody literally threw it out on my yard), it soft-locks when loading cars before a race when played from the disc. The opening movie is about 935 MB, and according to GT TV it is installed on the HDD, but I searched over 800 folders in the GT5 folder and couldn't find any file that big. I would like to disable installation before a video clip plays, so I don't have that file on the HDD twice (one in the game folder and another in the dumped game folder). I know there is a video played after completing two A-Spec/B-Spec events(GT World Championship and Dream Car Championship), but there are more PAM files then that. What other events trigger a PAM video? Do A-Spec and B-Spec have different videos?

You won't be able to remove any video from the game data unless you properly edit the game's file system. Even if you do so, that will most likely just crash the game once it needs it.
That's just an assumption however.

By the way, you cannot just go around and "browse" the game's game data on the hdd, the PDIPFS is "obfuscated". You would need to use proper tools to figure out which file is what.

@Nenkai, I encountered some weirdness with the used car dealership, don't know if they're related to the mod or not...

1. A brand new Bugatti Veyron with 0 km on the odometer and the same price (2 million credits) as a new one, what a ripoff. :)

2. A race-modded car, one of the new ones in the mod (not one of the original 17).
