Just look at a ROS region in NOR or NAND, you get an index table and then the files.
A nofsm patch is basically a ROS dump.
You can use my Toolset to create your own nofsm patch from any installed CFW on a specific ROS using the "save ROS as noFSM patch" context menu entry.

Yes, you can jailbreak. Use bgtoolset, it supports all versions between 4.75 and 4.90, which includes 4.78. After you jailbreak with bgtoolset, install Evilnat 4.90 noBT variant. Do not install any firmware not marked noBT (not even OFW), as it will brick your console.

You should first check if your model is CFW capable.

BgToolset has a validation check in place for this.

Also, you can download and run minVerChk.PUP. If it responds with a value lower than 3.60, then you can use BgToolset.

no need to downgrade.

as it will brick your console.

it will cause boot-loop which is a "soft" brick at best. it can not be used but it is still working. it can be fixed by hardware flasher and nobt cfw install.

PS3 Official firmware 4.91 was released on February 27th, 2024. It was built by Sony on December 7th, 2023.

Custom firmware Evilnat 4.91 was released on March 9th, 2024 and updated on March 10th, 2024.

Hybrid firmware 4.91 + PS3HEN is planned to be released in few hours.

If you're still on 4.90 you can upgrade to Evilnat 4.91 CFW without worries. Just make sure you don't accidentally install OFW 4.91 or you'll need to wait for bgtoolset to be updated.

The Toolset update has already been tested successfully on NOR consoles.
More tests are needed on NAND still, esc0 will probably do that tonight after work.. but remember he also does all the HEN release testing at the same time so that's a fair amount of work altogether and one must be thorough, even then sometimes bugs creep up along anyway.
I know many of you are eagerly waiting, please, a bit more patience, we try to do our best with the time resources we have.

Jailbreaking Using Bgtoolset​

View attachment 32692 This guide is for CFW-compatable models ONLY! You will use PS3 Toolset to patch your PS3 to allow CFW installation. The toolset was made by @bguerville (who is also a member of the PS3Xploit team). It is usually called "bgtoolset". Minimum Requirements Your PS3's date and time must be set accurately. You must be on OFW or HFW version 4.80-4.89. Javascript, cookies, and the flash player plugin must be enabled. Spoiler: Flash plugin issues... If you have disabled the plugin for the current user profile, you may need to switch to a different user profile or create a new one in order to use the toolset. You can enable the Flash plugin permanently by checking the "Do not display again" option in the plugin's loading confirmation screen. IF THE TOOLSET FREEZES WHEN LOADING, unmount any PS1/PS2 virtual memory cards and remove any SD, Memory Stick Pro Duo, Compact Flash, or other Cards. Then try again! Please report if you have this freeze and if you were able to fix it or not. Do NOT try to close the browser while the toolset is performing any operations. To avoid accidently exiting the browser, you should turn on "Browser Exit Confirmation". Do NOT delete cookies between sessions. Do NOT disable "FMM Strict Mode"! It is a safety feature. Follow the steps below to patch your PS3 and install CFW: 1. Open http://www.ps3toolset.com/ in the PS3's web browser. 2. Click on the "System Manager" tab. If the toolset reports that your PS3 is NOT CFW-compatable, then you must use HEN. (see my HEN guide instead) 3. Dump your Flash Memory onto a USB device by clicking on "Flash Memory" and then "Save Flash Memory Backup" option. Keep the dump somewhere safe! You might need it in the future to repair your PS3. 4. Use the Flash memory patch option "Load patch via https". If validation is successful after download, apply the patch. If you get an error, do NOT continue to patch (although it should not let you anyway). Spoiler: If the download fails... ...you can download the file called "nofsm_patch.bin" from littlebalup's github. Save it to a USB device and use the "Load from USB" option instead of https. 5. If patching validation is successful, make a new dump. Save this dump with the other one but remember to give the files good names so you will know which is from before and which is from after patching. 6. Reboot when the toolset tells you it is okay. Finally, install a CFW version equal to or higher than your current firmware version (if you have trouble installing firmware or need CFW pup files, see my firmware guide HERE). If you get a validation error from the toolset, do NOT reboot or turn off the PS3. Seek guidance in this forum. * Remember that after you install CFW, you should NOT install OFW or HFW! Only install CFW or Dualboot pup files. Spoiler: Why? This will cause you to lose the ability to install CFW. You would need to use bgtoolset again to rejailbreak. If you want to mess with HEN or play online with maximum safety, use duelboot pups instead - they are OFW and HFW pups that are patched to allow CFW to install on top of them without having to use bgtoolset again.

i was able to get it working, the console i had was on 4.86 firmware.. i noticed i cant play aw on 4.84 rebug but i cant get online with evilnat dex, i wanna use specific non hosts bc i know they work for what i need them for. is there a way to get online with evilnat dex or do i need the dpex version

Evilnat was working on 4.90.2 with a lot of new CFW features when OFW 4.91 dropped, so 4.90.2 was (probably) abandoned and all of those new features released as part of 4.91 instead. That's the biggest change. The updated Blu-Ray keys from the OFW updates are just a bonus. Also installing 4.91 will allow you to log to PSN without spoofing your version.
