you can downgrade after enabling qa flag. use rebug toolbox or habib's app. It's a shame, can you go back down from version to 4.86 to hack it with rebug lite? personally it is the best cfw I have installed because it allowed me to install any pkg

1. You could use a patched CFW to create a OtherOS partition on the internal hdd so you can install Linux on it. The Rebug Toolbox gives you the tools you need to boot OtherOS.HI guys I'm happy to see people are still tinkering with the ps3 I stopped messing around with mine after sony patched me out of my yellow dog setup way back. Can I trouble you with 2 questions?
1- Starting from an unmodified 4.6 CHAxx roughly what is the process for installing linux?
2- Has any progress been made with improving performance under linux? We only had one core of the cpu and no gpu at all before.
Thanks!

You can get old Rebug firmware here: https://archive.midnightchannel.net/SonyPS/Firmware/?cat=rebug. But why are you trying to install such an old version? Latest Rebug REX is 4.84.2, and latest Rebug Lite is 4.86.1. There is also Evilnat 4.88.2 CFW, which is able to have online access and should be the most convenient for most users: https://www.psx-place.com/threads/4-88-2-evilnat-cobra-8-3-custom-firmware-cfw-cex-released.32057/its cool i have sorted it,now trying to find rebug 4.76 to download but all i get are dead links.
you can get HAN for 4.88 on **ps3xploit.com >Domain no Longer owned by team** (ps3xploit.me =new) website. i recommend looking into HEN instead. it includes HAN and much more, but of course you can use whatever you want.Hi, i want to know how i put the han 4.87 in the hfw 4.88. its possible?
cool, thanks.Another thing too :>, when I go to start han or any of its functions, it crashes. P.S. You can also access rebug.me through wayback machine to get links (some will work, others won't) and md5sums for Rebug firmware.
Try habib's standalone QA flag toggler. Run it once once you install it, and you will see a black screen. Reboot (may not even be necessary, I can't remember) and then you should be able to install a lower version CFW.well i installed evilnat ver 4.88,i cant seem to get rid or install another cfw as i cant toggle the qa flag in rebug toolbox, any idea how i can remove evilnat as i want to try other custom firmwars, cheers in advance.
Yes, reboot is absolutely necessary! ;-)Try habib's standalone QA flag toggler. Run it once once you install it, and you will see a black screen. Reboot (may not even be necessary, I can't remember) and then you should be able to install a lower version CFW.
