PS3 Hacking & Jailbreaking the PS3

If you're going to connect to SEN/PSN or play online, you should do it with HEN disabled. It's like you're using OFW.
If HEN was already enabled, then you should disable the CFW syscalls using R2+TRIANGLE in webMAN MOD or using psnpatch plugin.

Nobody knows exactly the ban rules used by Sony. But the main known causes are:
- CFW syscalls must be disabled. Some games like CoD, GTA and others detect CFW syscalls and get you flagged.
- Don't play homebrews while you're online. They are visible for other users online and it's like to yell "Ban me, please!"
- Don't use IDPS/PSID obtained from Internet. Sellers usually sell the same IDPS to many persons.
- Don't use IDPS from other systems like PSP or random.
- Don't play online using mods, cheats or have a bad behavior against other gamers (fraud, threaten others, bullying, etc.)

The banning can be instant or take a few weeks after you have been flagged.
It could be temporary or permanent depending of the degree of the violation.

I have a super slim ps3, so i cant use cfw. I use HFW (ps3xploit). does this affect any part of your explanation, or just by simply disabling hen when playing online as you said i should be fine?

My answer applies for HEN and CFW too.

Sony could ban users for different reasons. Not only the ones I mentioned. These are the main ones.

Disabling HEN should be safe in 99%. Going online with a modded console is not 100% safe.
 
Hi everyone, hoping I can find some advice, I'm planning on modding a slim CECH-20xx PS3 for the first time tomorrow, I have ver 4.76 and I keep seeing that Evilnat Cobra is probably the best to get but I can't find a 4.76 ver of it... I was wondering what I would be recommended to get here or maybe if anyone knows, can I just get a version of Evilnat Cobra and it work fine with a ver 4.76?

hello, i have a ps3 slim and i installed 4.88.3 Evilnat Cobra (8.3) cex and multiman mod. i have downloaded iso format games from usb stick to hdd with webman, but multiman does not install them. what can i do?

Where do the iso files come from?
Did you create them yourself with makeps3iso?
Where did you copy the files on the internal hdd?
 
i don't know if this is the place to ask, but if my ps3 is already jailbroken, would updating it to the 4.88 jailbreak work the same as just jailbreaking it again, or would i have to update to official firmware and jailbreak that?
apologies if this sounds confusing at all, if anyone needs me to elaborate on my question i absolutely can!!

just install the 4.88 cfw pup. no need to install ofw or re-jailbreak. :)
 
I have an ASUS Vivobook, and I can't even get to the part where I have to extract the files from the download link from MEGA or the other sites. It just shows up in my downloads folder as a blank sheet. The "code" or whatever it is, is there, but there seems to be nothing to extract. I'm on Windows 10 if that helps.

If your console already has CFW, you can upgrade just installing the new CFW.
If it has QA flags enabled, it can upgrade/downgrade to any version equal or higher than the factory fw version.

If your console has OFW, you don't need HFW to jailbreak it using bgtoolset. It uses a different exploit that doesn't relies on webkit.
You only need to be in OFW 4.80 or higher up to OFW 4.88 (at the moment of this post). It also can jailbreak HFW but that's not a requirement.
 
I recently bought a superslim that never have been jailbroken. The console came with several original discs like the CoD saga. Im thinking on installing HEN on it, so my question is: if i install HEN and any other homebrew there like multiman and some emulators, can i go online for playing multiplayer with my original games without being banned as long as i dont activate HEN? ive read that there are games that scan ur HDD and report illegal stuff to sony

so, concerning those games that scan ur HDD, is it possible to have a HDD for HEN and another one for original games?, or to entirely install the whole homebrew stuff in an external HDD?
 
Hello. When will it be possible to install custom firmware on 4.89? on 4.88 I had evilnat, but due to inattention I updated to 4.89 official.

Whenever the PS3 Toolset update rolls out.

Right now I am helping esc0 with a few known HEN issues that the 4.89 update brought front stage and which would need fixed ASAP, due to the larger impact of HEN issues at this stage, the PS3 Toolset has temporarily taken a back seat, it should only take a few days in theory, we cannot work on everything at the same time, we must prioritize.

As per usual (lol), esc0 managed to find a minor but annoying problem in the PS3 Toolset during last minute testing before roll out, something that looks like a regression, I must investigate and fix the problem before rolling out this update.
