There's no OC + noBD afaik but maybe Evilnat or someone else know how to make one.Hello guys! I have a question. I'm a noob when it comes to PS3 "hacking" but I have done my fair share of computer things since I was a little kid. I just got myself a 1st gen fat PS3, managed to update it to Evilnat's 4.90 CFW, but since my BD is not working, I had to use the noBD version. My PS3 is delidded and I just changed the thermal paste on both the CELL and RSX. Is there a way to get the OC working on the noBD version? Thanks!

Mind that noBD firmware is only required if the BD daughterboard is broken. If the daughterboard is fine and only the drive is broken then regular firmware can be used, in which case you can just install the regular OC. Be sure that's indeed the case though, since if you attempt to install the regular variant on a system with a broken daughterboard you'll get stuck in an update loop.
P.S. A 1st gen (I assume you mean the backwards compatible model) is pretty much pointless without a working Blu-Ray drive, or at the very least a working daughterboard, as the noBD variant does not (and cannot) support PS2 hardware BC.
When I bought the PS the Blu-Ray drive made 2 beeps when trying to press the eject button. I didn't even try inserting a disc (because it came to me as "broken" from the seller and I didn't bother). Yesterday, I opened it up, delidded it and changed the paste. The blu-ray drive now eats up the CD and opens it normally (I tried an audio CD), but it did give me an error saying the PS was unable to gather information about the CD over the internet (tracks on it did display, but not play). Is there a chance that the BD is actually working? I should probably test with an original game, right?
Also, if I'm running PS2 ISOs through the MultiMan or Webman apps, that means it's software emulated at all times? Shame if so :P
If you could play fine the audio from your test CD, then everything is working (at least on the CD/DVD side). Try a BluRay game and check how it behavies: if it loads the disk slow, if it stucks, if it returns an error, etc.
But to me, it seems that the drive was stuck or in disc-on position after the previous owner removed the disc manually.
Is it possible, that it doesn't work properly because I have a noBD CFW installed? Also, the audio CD I tried was burned at home to use in my car in CD audio format, does the PS have some extra checks to see if the CD is a "legit" copy? Thanks!
You must install a full CFW in order to re-enable the BD support, yes. Don't worry, if your BD drive board is faulty, you can replace the full CFW PUP with the noBD version and it will skip the BD checks.
Regarding the burned audio CD, the PS3 can not check whether it's a legit copy or not (normal audio CDs don't have any sort of copy protection in their specs), so you are good to go. Use it as usual.

According to the wiki, error 8002F149 is just an update error, but it doesn't mention anything over the BD board.

It could be that your PUP file is corrupted, or the USB drive has some bad sectors. But your console didn't enter a boot loop.
I don't know why changing the HDD for an SSD would make it work, it installed OK on the HDD so it makes no sense to change it to an SSD.
enable hen. move right once on xmb to get to network column (the one with web browser). go up until you see "Hybrid Firmware Tools". under one its submenu is an option about "app_home". turn it off and that icon will go away.Could anyone help me? Swap Magicu trying a ps3 or ps2/ps1 game? it was the case that u had to use swap disc on version 3.8 if not on cfw. I can't recall the swap disc name - sorry.![]()
Honestly, a full wipe may be the way to go. You already tried reinstalling an update which didn't help. Just backup your saves and try it out.Still need help with my SuperSlim.. Maybe some advice?
