FYI
I thought you might wanna have confirmation about this so here it is.
It's quite an unlikely option BUT in the event that a subscription or a token service is ever put in place in the future in order to cover hosting costs (it might for instance restrict access to certain features of the Toolset or just enable the patching feature in a limited fashion, something along the lines of one console - one free jailbreak patching attempt), users who already donated would automatically get a free subscription, no donator would ever be put in a position of having to pay for a subscription or a service via tokens.

Well as far as I'm concerned I've donated because I wanted to, and if it was a 1 dollar or 1 pound per console I'd still have no issues in paying that, for remarrying disk drives alone its a god send let alone the option for cfw and the unlocking about 80% of Ps3 options,FYI

Yes and that is especially true when fees have to be paid (for currency conversion or other), typically any USD donation under 2 USD is quite pointless whenever some fees apply because PP will take most, if not all, of it to cover those fees.I suggest you that set a policy for minimum donation amount, to avoid the "smart guys" that donate 1 cent just to receive the benefit. I have had these cases, receiving a negative amount in PayPal due transaction fees![]()

But subscription or token based services would only be a very last resort anyway, I am hoping it never becomes necessary, of course I am not ruling anything out for the time being.
Like I said before, I now consider that it is the community's responsibility to keep the PS3 Toolset project online, if the community doesn't feel it is worth a tiny donation, then the online presence will either be shut down or some sort of subscription token system will be introduced.
There is exactly one year to go before renewal is due so we shall see what the donations amount to by the time we get to September/October 2022 & take things from there.
I suppose it is also worth mentioning that if ** ** www.ps3xploit.net > Domain no Longer owned by team** (NEW URL = http://ps3toolset.com) > Domain no Longer owned by team** (NEW URL = http://ps3toolset.com had to shut down, it would trigger a number of things in a kind of cascading effect.
The outcome of the next phases of the Toolset project, the Mamba Loader tool (with new lv1 & lv2 exploit implementations) & a mamba autoloader tool for non CFW compatibles would be in jeopardy too, they would not get released to the public, no matter how successful those projects may be if/when I finally complete the last 3 phases of the Toolset project, as there would be no platform left online to release them.
The ball is in the community's court now, I admit I would be somewhat disappointed if I had to change my plans & reconsider my commitments but at the end of the day, I am easy either way.
Yes, it's an interesting approach too, one of various that could be considered as ways to solve the maintenance issue on the long term without necessarily excluding all those who don't have the means (financially, legally or just the practical means) to take a subscription or buy tokens, even if those are extremely low priced. I would need to look at the latest stats to make a proper projection as to what the ratio would need to be to cover current costs & maybe also what it would need to be in order to improve services to get a point of comparison.@bguerville while reading this talk i had an idea:
Every dollar donated (euro, or other coins) gives access to 10 "keys". That keys are used to unlock the "flash tools" section of the toolset, can be used only 1 time, and expires after 1 year
This way there is going to be lot of people that donates 1 dollar, they will use only a couple of keys, and they will give the other 8 keys to his friends
I guess this will promote people in social networks to share the keys for free... so... for someone that doesnt have any way to donate it will be relativelly easy to find a valid key in internet
But the amount of valid keys available will be limted, soon or later someone will have to donate to unlock more keys
Publishing that keys is a fair play... lets say... even if someone wants to create a thread in this forum to share them i dont see any problem with it, it will work also as a reminder for donators
Just an idea
