PS2 HDD-OSD slow loading

So I have been using a 500GB HDD with my PS2 for years now. I had the games show up in HDD-OSD. I've got about not more than 200GB of games installed. A few days ago, I decided to put all my disc games to HDD. I only have about 130GB of free space now. Immediately I noticed that loading of icons in HDD-OSD is significantly slower. It takes about three to five seconds to load an icon in HDD-OSD. It eventually speeds up at the point. So far what I have done is to remove items from showing in HDD-OSD by removing PP. from the partitions. This does not resolve the issue. Anyone has ideas how to fix this?

PS2: SCPH-39001
HDD: Hitachi IDE 500GB
Network adapter: Official Sony
