.This official HFW 4.89.1 release was created by @littlebalup and has been tested over many consoles and situations. Please be aware of several "Unofficial" HFW 4.89 builds that are on the internet. Some of them may work, and some of them are known to have problems.

HFW, by its very nature is a modified version of original OFW, that by itself can be unstable or have unexpected results in some situations, due to the system files (sprx) replaced with older version during the creation process. HFW is meant to be accompanied by PS3HEN, which when fully installed will restore HFW back to a stable OFW state (system sprx), and also includes any other fixes needed.

The official HFW 4.89.1 has a EULA date of May 11, 2022 and an MD5 of 1746FD1A7BA9F6DBB9428C9C64B54B0A

This firmware has been tested with PS3HEN 3.1.0

Thank you for the release! I've successfully installed HFW 4.89.1 and HEN 3.1.0 on my Super Slim.

The main installer on **ps3xploit.com >Domain no Longer owned by team** (ps3xploit.me =new) only supports 4.84 to 4.88 HFW, wouldn't let me install the HEN that way. Alternative installer worked just fine.

However, I am experiencing heavy glitches in XMB - I am unsure if it's from some mods I could've made on my 4.88 HFW + HEN 3.0.3.

We understand that you know what you are doing. Just after the first one posted by Louay had issues, we had a private post in the beta forum from @littlebalup with a working one. He decided to make one because the other one was broken. You can probably make the official 4.90 HFW if you want when it comes out shortly lol :)

It have been said tenths of times in this forum that building the HFW was relativelly easy... and also that was pointless without a HEN release, because the tricky thing is to build HEN

The problem of HFW is that after his installation is needed to restore the files that was replaced from inside the .TAR
All them needs to be restored by the official files of the "target" firmware version (except the silk_webkit.sprx because we want to keep an old version of it). This task is made in the HEN installer, but additionally the HEN installer needs to modify some more files (and is needed to respect the versions)

Some of the HEN installers released previously are not respecting the file versions either because are not restoring the files from the .TAR or because are adding files not compatibles with 4.89
This is why there is many people reporting broken visual stuff in XMB, or are not able to install debug PKG's and many other problems

And now the people that was working in the officials HFW/HEN are going to have false reports of the unnofficial broken HFW/HEN just because they doesnt knows who made the software they are using

I've never used any unofficial HFW or HEN - yet I am experiencing this issue.

I've updated from official HFW 4.88.1 to HFW 4.89.1 today, then installed HEN 3.1.0 through ps3xploit. After installing HEN that way, I have XMB that's glitched. Once I reinstall HFW 4.89.1, XMB is back working. If I try to reinstall HEN again through ps3xploit, the issue persists.

IT seems every main fonction is ok..
I just noted some graphics issue... And i want to report you. I don't know if OFW, or hen faults. I hope to help the devs to make a Perfect hfw&hen.

(some info: i Update From OFFICIAL HFW 4.88 to OFW 4.89.. then i did two installation of OFFICIAL HFW 4.89.. first through xmb, Second From recovery.. . Model slim 2504B)

I had these same issues..

This fixed it for me
I installed hfw 4.89.1 official..
Via recovery menu and then 2nd time via xmb

I then managed to install the hen off PS3 xploits site using glitchy PS3 browser

I then restored system file and glitches were gone

HEN 3.1.0 was released today along with PKG installers - you can obtain the PKG from PS3HEN_3.1.0_4.89_FW.zip.

This PKG does differ from what is hosted on ps3xploit website and contains more files inside of it.

If there is no official HEN PKG installer, why is ps3xploit hosting a beta update? Autoupdate function will update and won't notify the user that he's installing a beta nor will give him a possibility to opt out of beta.
 
Do you realize the path from the official links where you are downloading the HEN installer contains the names "rc", "rc1", or "rc2" ?
Is just that is not mentioned in the filename, but are literally "release candidates"... and are intended to be used by anxious devs, not the final users

Also, everyone of that release candidates could have different problems (latest is rc2 or rc3) so you need to tell which one you installed
Anyway... this thread is about HFW, not the HEN installer (by now, im not sure if @esc0rtd3w will repurpose this thread later)

Mine/unofficial HFW is same as official after installing.
