4.90.1 HFW (Hybrid FirmWare)

PS3 HFW 4.90.1 (Hybrid Firmware) -

thankyou aldostools can i install hfw 4.90 over the cfw 4.90?

If you already have CFW 4.90 and install HFW 4.90.1, you will lose the ability to install CFW and will have to patch your flash again.

If you are asking if you can install CFW 4.90 over HFW 4.90.1, you first have to use PS3Xploit Flash Writer 4.90 to allow CFW installation. Your console must be CFW compatible to be able to patch the flash memory & install CFW.

Follow the tutorial in the link at the bottom of this post.

Puedo instalar CFW 4.90.1 sobre el 4.90 oficial. Por que me pasa que cuando la instalacion llega al 50% se reinicia y no termina la instalacion

Can I install CFW 4.90.1 over the official 4.90? Why does it happen to me that when the installation reaches 50% it restarts and the installation does not finish?

No, you cannot install CFW 4.90 over OFW 4.90.

You first should install HFW 4.90.1 then use PS3Xploit Flash Writer 4.90 to patch your console, if it is a CFW compatible model. If your console is superslim or a slim that is compatible, you should wait for the release of PS3HEN for HFW 4.90

can anybody tell me how to ftp flash writer to ps3 using filezilla please
The flash writer should accessed from a web server running on a PC on your LAN or online.
A local web server is the recommended method.

Hi everyone!

I made a Proof of Concept using Docker called "ps3-webtools"

It's basically a Docker Image containing Apache Web Server (HTTPD) with AutoHEN 3.1.1 for HFW 4.89 and the FlashWriter for HFW 4.90 inside.

Simple navigation using the "Index of" Apache Pages.

My idea is avoid the user worries about little details of Apache or other Web Servers configuration.

I built in Linux, so I created 2 files "build_and_run.sh" and "down.sh" to make it easier to use.
But I believe is possible to port these scripts to Microsoft Windows OS.

I put by default the HTTPD port to 8888 to avoid collision with other web services.

If you believe its a good idea, I send to you maintainers the ZIP containaining the Dockerfile, script and other files. The size is about 30 or 40mb, but I make it smaller by deleting the P3T files.

A great hug and thanks for everything. :-)

So looks like $ony really messed this OFW up as it's been widespread reported that people cannot download any games or DLC as they're met with the error code 80029509. Must be like 1 person left at the company that's working on these updates. Now I wonder if they will be able to fix it network side or if they need to release a new OFW well let's hope not.

i tried updating to HFW yesterday and got an error code and it said the update was corruped?? im confused as idk what that means and would like to get back on psn..

I got the same feeling from Microsoft and their Windows. It feels as if there is only one person left in the kernel team, and it's also a janitor in their spare time.

To be clear: I'm not saying that the devs there do a bad job, but when you look at the speed they do UI overhauls vs how fast they fix kernel level issues... :excitement:

Edit: added quotation

what do you recommend for my PS3 FAT without blueray disk? Im on 4.84
And I'm assuming that 4.84 is OFW? In that case, you will have to wait for BGToolset to go back up. Under no circumstances should you install any firmware update before you patch the flash. Doing that would lock you out of software based jailbreak tools.

Lol, that's exactly how me and my friends literally think when we talk about it. We always go back to it must be a part-time Janitor in his spare time something along those lines we wait forever for them to release an update then when we do we get greeted with the usual

"System software stability during use of some features has been improved."

When in reality it's updated Blu-ray keys along with potential bugs, I swear there is not much of a team working on the PS3. It gets more support in these forums then from the company itself.

@Joonie don't forget to see HEN 3.2.0 changes, now we hide the Package manager when hen is not enabled, we have an automatic switch of the hen logo that indicates that it is enabled, a featured that i called "FAKE CFW" that after a XMB reload the hen icon won't be shown and etc.

Lots of toggles for audio passthrough and etc,

The fake CFW can make it difficult for users who bought a used PS3 with jailbreak, to identify if the console is HEN or CFW, thus installing things that only work for CFW. For example the CCAPI. It's a cool idea, I'm not criticizing, but it can cause confusion if in system information it says 4.90 CFW

The HEN icon will only disappear after reloading the XMB, if the console is restarted it will be displayed again, well I liked the first ideal that i had better, when the HEN is enabled it changes the icon to notify the user that it is already enabled .

The fake cfw cames after this one, i was just trying ideas, esc0 liked more the second one and implemented in the 3.2.0.

We could even implement both solutions in one, well i'll release some kplugins for hen when it's out, so we will have some cool features without needing to release HEN variants from different sources, so the user can install the official one and just install extra features via kplugins. (I have many in mind)

About CCAPI, AFAIK it can be blocked in the payload

CECH-2004B just updated to OFW 4.90, used minver in the drive (2.70 or later can be installed).
So the drive its recognized... I can see it under photos an video, but it does not find anything trying to update.
E:\PS3\UPDATE\PS3UPDAT.PUP
Should I try safe mode??
Why it is not working?

my ps3 is a slim 3001a how do i know if it is compatible with the cfw
It's not. Supported slim models are 20xx, 21xx and some 25xx. 30xx are not supported.
You will need to use HEN. It's not yet available for 4.90 but will probably be released within a few days. If you haven't updated to 4.90 yet you can still install the 4.89 version and wait with the 4.90 update until HEN 4.90 is released
