PS3 How do I install OFW on a PS3 with no bd?

Hello, I've found a old PS3 CECH 2004 with no blu-ray drive and corrupted HDD, I've wiped the HDD and now it's alright but the PS3 gets stuck at 99% of the installation progress ( current record of letting it do it's thing is 10h ), I've found on this forum that I needed at least a compatible daughter board to make it work, either BMD-051 or BMD-061, so I've bought a BMD-061 and the motherboard to board ribbon cable, but even when everything is plugged in it still gets stuck at 99%, I'm out of ideas, help.

Do you mind telling me where I can download such CFW and the eventual installation process?

Your nickname fit you perfectly :biggrin2:

Psx-place consider posting psx-place links as spam, so I can't written the link.
Look for it in Google:
CFW 4.90 Evilnat Cobra (8.4) (CEX/DEX/PEX/D-PEX)

4.90 CFW CEX NoBD is your desired CFW

Follow this. You don't need rebut toolbox, everything is included in Evilnat CFW.

Again look in google:
How to Remarry BlueRay Drive on CFW PS3 Step by Step

Your nickname fit you perfectly :biggrin2:
What can I say, I choose my username fully conscious of my noobness :unconscious:

Anyways a quick glance on Google told me that PS3s having OFW 3.60 and up can't install CFW directly and I need to install any CFW first, now this is the problem, the PS3's HDD had to be wiped since it was corrupted and since I don't have the OG Blu-ray drive ( I don't know where it went or who took it, I found the PS3 like this ) whenever I try to install any firmware on the device it gets stuck at 99%, I've tried to leave it overnight on the installation process and even 10h later it was still stuck at 99%.

Then I can't help you...
I would try formating the hdd from the PC and installing the current OFW from recovery

Let's see is someone else check your post

I agree that the HDD might be faulty . You need to try these :

1. Get a good HDD and try to install a no-BD CFW from recovery . It will probably fail but write down the error and percentage .
2. Get a hardware flasher such as E3 to dump and patch the NOR, then install the noBD CFW, this time it will work . Or get someone else with experience to do it . Alternatively you can wait for a solution to install without a hardware flasher but you might get old waiting .
3. Once you have the CFW installed you can start playing .

If part 1 will work you're in luck but think about part 2 , is it worth investing or you'll find a good deal on a working slim ?

Sounds like you hdd is faulty.

You can do a smart check on a pc to verify the drive is not reporting any issues - bad sectors, controller issues etc.

My advice, get a new hdd, and complete Blueray drive then try again with the OFW firmware - same version it has, then you can do the ps3xploit, then goto to the CFW = Evilnat 4.90.

Sorry I took so long to reply to you guys but live got in the way.

I've got a new HDD now and I've been getting a error now instead of being stuck at the 99% loop, the error is 8002F14E.

I saw it's the missing blu-ray drive error, but atm I can't get the full unit, and regardless I read on this forum that the daughterboard should be enough to update, is there anything I can do to fix this without buying the full blu-ray unit?

EDIT: I checked the motherboard battery as I've read that that could also cause such error and it's dead, I'll replace it tomorrow.
