PS3 How to use ps3MFW-Builder / RSX Overclocking Project - Video tutorial

I created this tutorial to help people who struggle to use ps3MFW-Builder, in order to allow everyone to build their own modified firmware with the desired GPU speeds.

I tried to be as clear as possible.

Use it at your own risk ! To have an hardware flasher is recommended.

If for some reasons, you can't make it work with Windows 10 or 11, try to run it as administrator.
If it still don't work, run it through a Windows 7 virtual machine.

Here is a zip file of ps3MFW-Builder which contains up to date keys (→ 4.91) and more VRAM options (25MHz increments) :

I am on windows 10 and everything you did is 100% correct, tried several times but seems like patchtool.exe is the problem, diagnosis says it's outdated, suggestions state it is latest compatible with windows 8 and down. I was trying to create 750/1000 B8 just to test if the app works. When I update the application for compatibility the process doesn't recognize it lol

I wasn't aware of this compatibility issue :\
Maybe try to run it as administrator.

I just tested your mfw mod mod, lol, building a 700/875 on windows 11. built fine. though, I can't test it. that seemed like a good mark to try.
Glad to read that ! :D
To verify my modifications before publishing it, I've tried 650/875 on my 2004B slim and it works perfectly. Even if 900MHz is totally possible on it, 875MHz leaves an appreciable small margin for safety.

Yeah, it was mostly after reading about the troubles with windows 10.

Is there another way to overclock without having to assemble the firmware like in the video?
Evilnat 4.91 Beta 9 CEX

The clock speeds are in n the syscon, but with 4.xx firmware, sonly allowed lv1 to override those values, which is why updates work. I think they said you can't modify the values other than that. There may be a problem with changing it via homebrew, otherwise it would probably exist, since this can be dangerous.

Just go on exe, properties and mark to run in compatibility mode and mark windows 7 and execute like administrator. It works for me in windows 11. No issues here.

I would like to point out that depending on where you have mfw builder, you may have to add privileges to your user group, write privileges specifically. also, if you still continue to have issues, make sure av or anti malware apps aren't blocking the process or one of the apps. I'd add an exclusion to the mfw builder folder, I guess.

Awesome job, thank you. I am still wishing for more options. 500/1025, etc. Did you recompile mfw and add the values in the source? is there a way to add 2 drop down menus, separately for gpu and memspeed?

edit: 600/975 is also an ideal combination I missed.

Alright!!!, a 4.91 keys. Thanks.
Would be interesting if mfw builder had something like scetool on ps3tools' fix bat iirc. It negates the need for adding keys apparently, because all new firmwares use the same keys since 4.25. I learned about this bat when decrypting the vsh.self for evilnat without having to add in the keys manually for scetool.

Does anyone know the CFW values with Overclocking?

just look in the tcl files. they're on a byte-by-byte change, so it searches for a series of bytes, then replaces them. there are two bytes for oc. I forgot which is which but one is based on 50-degree increments, and the other 25.
