Hi. I am new the homebrew for the PS3 and I have several questions that I hope you guys can take your time to answer.

I have installed Rebug 4.81 from Ferrox 4.82 (I read it was better) and I don't know where to go from here. I did install Multiman, RetroArch, Sen Enabler bit I can't seem to understand what to do. I may have missed some tutorials here and there so you can just point me and i'll read.

For Multiman, for example, I installed Skyrim Legendary Edition but I can't seem to be able to run it? It just drop from Multiman and it goes to the XMB. Actually I was amazed to learn to you can mod the game so I hope you guys can point me to the right tools and tutorials to understand it all.

reflash rebug again and do full restore from recovery.if it's not working after that then it's a bad rip of the game.also you could try both latst version of multiman and previous one,i myself tested previous one on rebug and it's working and i did launch skyrim legendary edition with it.wich version it was i don't remember,i gave that disc and now i have only iso and can't verify if it's a bles or a blus.

you have modding subforum here, there you'll find mods and how to.mostly there's content mods for ps3 skyrim, because skyrim can't be pushed much more aestethicaly because of hrdware limitations of the system.for full eyecandy stick to PC version.

When you select a game in multiman , it is meant to take you back to the XMB, then you select the disk icon in the game category to boot the game.

I do not think reinstalling FW will help you. it is most likely your game rip, or your setup if it sstill not working.

I can't say as for the CFW part, but for game modding I would love to help you get started! :-p

First let's start off with Skyrim Elite Edition, go ahead and check that out read a little about it. If you want to download it check out the links here. There are Skyrim EE modpacks and there is the Skyrim EE link.

As for tutorials you can check out my guide explaining quite a bit about Skyrim EE. Unfortunately there is no install guide or in-depth tutorial on how certain files work for Skyrim EE, I would love to add that, but unfortunately I don't have edit permissions on that thread anymore so it would need to be merged (and right now that's a bit of a inconvenience for me).

However if you get stuck on anything Skyrim related shoot me a PM and I would love to explain it or you could just ask me on this thread! Good luck! :-p

Oh it's meant to go back there? Ok ok. But doesn't it launch the disk version in the XMB? I was hoping to put that PS3 in another room so I was hoping for a diskless solution. As for the rip, I did straight from the MultiMan application. Should i use something else? I don't intend to pirate so i don't mind not having all the options but i can use a PC if needed be.

So normally i can just rip my game and start them?

Should I use Ferrox instead? It's on 4.81 so maybe it's better.

And should I format? I had games already installed, like Skyrim, and I didn't find where to go to install all the DLC.

I was kinda hoping to find a all-tutorial for Multiman (or any other launcher) but unless I do not know what terms tomsearch for, there's not much.

Yes you can use it diskless, its just when you mount a game using multiman , it will appear in the drive like you have a disk in, try it with no disk in.

If you ripped it with mulitman then it should be fine.

Rebug is fine.

No you should not need to format. BTW Be careful using a psn account with purchases on it on psn with CFW, if you get banned you can lose it all, its recommended to have a separate psn account for CFW, or to keep it offline if it has purchases.

Using multiman is easy enough, just read some threads on it, watch a few vids maybe, you will get the hang of it. I don't know of any all-in tutorials..

Ohhhh. Ok yes it did work. I saw that Skyrim was available but I thought it was the disk inside.

What about DLC included? Does multiman knows I have them already installed or should I delete everything from game data and install them in some sort of way? Because I don't see any folder associated with those DLC in file viewer.

Thank you all by the way. Really appreciate the time you guys take.

I always forget that the new generation prefer video tutorials than old plain text. I'll scour youtube and learn from there. Shouldn't be that hard.

I don't really intend to connect to psn with that PS3 so curently it shouldn't be a problem. I really want an offline experience and be able to mod Skyrim is such an welcomed

Your dlc should just work in the same way as before, once you mount the disk image the ps3 essentially thinks the disk is in the drive. Your DLC will be on your internal hdd in the game folder then the title ID, like dev_hdd0/game/BLUS12345 for example.

@TheGreatErikku multiMAN is a tool for mounting or launching games (besides other functionality), it doesn't know how DRM works or what game is seeking. So if games is properly mounted, and You see it in the XMB as disc, anything what happen next is beyond the multiMAN. And BTW, this solution is already obsolete. Just use disc image (it is not an oridinary ISO, use Hermes tool to build) and mount via WebMAN. The old, let's say, "JB format", is handy currently only for peoples who works on something and often change game files.

Patches, DLC, and games are installable by *.pkg. Consider it as *.rar for Sony. ;) When content is unpacking, CellOS writing destination and few metadata from it (this is what You see in XMB, depend of course by content type id). Another thing are licenses. If DLC or game require to be bought, the licenses are checking. If not exist, content cannot be find by game, game launch, or game turned into demo. This is of course cracked but the piracy is not a good topic on such great forums (if know what I mean ;)).

PS3 games in folder and files "format": "dev_hdd0:/GAMES/<game name or whatever>/"
PS3 games in disc image format: "dev_hdd0:/PS3ISO/*.iso"
DLC, patches and game "permanent cache" (all mixed...): "dev_hdd0:/game"/<game id>/"

Thanks Berion. You are right to say Webman is better (quicker even).
I've learned alot since then.

Does RetroArch has a specific place to ask questions? Or should I install separate emulators?

not too much benefit from separate emus,at least for the more popular ones.ps3 doesn't have emus with advanced features like internal res, shaders, and preety much the same job does retroarch,it's just more convenient.

sadly,pc is still the most powerful emu machine around.been playing super metroid and symphony of the night on my 50" tv,it's insane how good both of these games look with pipmed up emus on pc.ps1 games with AA 3d+2d 2.0 shaders on epsxe is simply insane looking.

@TheGreatErikku Personally, I'm using mM only as file manager. wMM winning in other tasks.

No, doesn't. Just asking in General section or eventually moderators will move the threads. ;)

I don't see a reason to installing separating cores. You will loose a lot of space by that. Also good idea is even not installing them but unpack the *.pkg, remove unused files (literally thousands of them) and pack them again. I made such package once before with RA and only with NES cores - it could be a good template/example for You what is needed and what is not.
http://www.psx-place.com/threads/dark-gimmick-via-retroarch.12465/

TBH, RetroArch on PS3 and PSV is... sad to say, but a disaster. Cores are ok, and also emulation quality is ok but GUI is terribly broken. Many option doesn't work or just freeze the console. Cannot be configured on the console, lost settings, breaking settings, breaking save states and I really hate that part. It's harsh words but I'm so extremely disappointing... :(

And how do I config RetroArch?

I installed the package and can run it fine but i can't find the directory while in ftp. Is there an hidden folder like devhidden or must I create them manually? Ill try manually and see how it goes.

$USRDIR/retroarch.cfg ;)

UFS2 doesn't have any support for hidden files. Only NTFS and FAT-family have. On unix like systems, hidden content is content started by dot in filename but this is only an unwritten law interpreting by file managers. On PS3 such thing just doesn't exist, everything is visible.

Thanks.
Something happened and Webman doesn't work anymore. Weirdly I can still access it in browser but nothing is shown on PS3. I even uninstalled the updater app and I can't install it anymore (full or lite). I don,t even see the install package on the XMB. If I update from official 4.82 does it delete like new or is there a process I must follow? I don't mind doing it again if my installation is fucked. Unless I can reinstall rebug 4.81 over?

You should never need to go back to OFW again once on CFW, if you think you have messed up your FW install you can simply reinstall CFW from the XMB. It sounds like you might have enabled some kind of stealth for PSN or disabled cobra or something, I don't know though, if Cobra was disabled then webman would not work via webpage..

I just checked Cobra is still enable but even Multiman doesn't mention Cobra anymore. Oh well I will reinstall Rebug and see from there. I should remove those controller shortcut.

EDIT: Reinstalling Rebug did the trick. For future reference should I redo QA Flags and all the steps when you start fresh? Because everything seems to be back to normal.

No, QA flag will stay enabled. Just reinstall FW should do it.
